Found this in the junk box today. Wasn't sure what it was so I bought it thinking it must be a token or something. Nearest I can tell it is modeled off the 10 Escudos (http://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces37863.html). It weights 4.35 grams.

Is it contemporary or modern? and so on, etc.
Thanks.

Indeed it must be a gaming token.
Iformation on the real stuff :
Isabella II (1838-1868)
10 escudos
Isabella the second, by the grace of God and the constitution
queen of Spain
Krause says that it should be gold : 8.3870g., 0.9000

The same coin is minted in 1873, but the date says 1868. Spain uses the exact date in most of the coins in the two stars on the coin. I your coin, the left star should have a 18 and the right star should have a 68 or 73

I figured it must have been a token or jeton of some sort. I've looked at modern tokens but the jetons are a whole different animal I am not familiar with. Thanks.
