coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 01/22/2014 07:41 am Let's see. Flat shelf like, no. Just Machine Doubling. But note the upper serif at 11:00. That is a RPM in that area. As far as doubled/tripled happening on Machine Doubling, there is only one strike on business struck coins, so the looseness of the machine can cause multiple damage on the coin. I don't see anything going on with the date, which makes me think this happened during the ejection process, which is also called...Machine doubling. Report this Post to the Staff

Was the mm not put into the die seperatly from the date and other devices and if so, did they use a machine to place the mm in the dies? This one is interesting anyway. Report this Post to the Staff

The MM was placed on the die by hand until 1989,but Machine Doubling is caused by die bounce during the minting process, not the die itself. Report this Post to the Staff
