2 X Gold Byzantine Coins, I.d And Info Please

I don't think it is an official issue of Phocas (sometimes spelled Focas). Not my area of expertise really. But I can see that it is pretty bent up. Never a good thing ! I would not pay a huge amount over melt for a cruddy gold coin. Too many good ones ! Second appears to be Justinian and quite nice. Better color too. I leave the valuation estimate on this to greater minds than mine. Report this Post to the Staff

The second is a very nice coin, but it would be the most I have spent on a byzantine gold coin, so definitely could do with price estimates please. It looks the nicest condition of any I see, and great print... but then I look again and wonder is the lack of detail in the face going to reduce the value? The face looks a lot plainer than other coins I can find like this? Any views appreciated? Thanks Report this Post to the Staff
