Need Help With A Cut 1652 Massachusetts Coin

SCDave Valued Member United States 118 Posts	Posted 02/26/2014 3:19 pm Was wondering if anyone can help ID this cut piece of Mass silver. It's a detecting find from VA. and was found along with a complete small planchet 1652 Pine Tree Shilling. I'm pretty sure it's a 1/4 of a shilling. I don't think it's a pine tree but maybe an oak or if I want to dream big a willow. One side shows the T H of Masathvsets and the other has most of the 52 in the 1652 date and GLAN of New England. A few clues to go by would be the 5 & 2 almost touch, with the top right end of the 5 just barley tucking under the top left of the 2 and maybe the die damage to the T on the other side. Getting info for these coins online is tough so Thanks for any help in figuring out what type and perhaps a NOE variety on it.... Dave Report this Post to the Staff

philadelphian Pillar of the Community United States 3253 Posts	Posted 02/26/2014 4:17 pm It's a Noe-6 Oak Tree shilling (or I guess, a "thruppence" now)! Nice find! Same D reverse as the Noe-5.
