Clearly a VAM-4 obverse, "Broken point on No. 4 star right":

VAM-Help-W/1878-CC??

But the reverse isn't VAM-4, "Mint mark closely spaced with die chips in the center of both.":

VAM-Help-W/1878-CC??

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Rick

I've never thought about VAMming my few Morgan dollars, so started to look into it a bit.

First one that I picked up has the exact same obverse as yours!! Broken 4th star and all! :D

Mine is a 1878-P though, so I can't help!! :(

The broken star on 1878's is a hub break. That feature is found on Morgans from all 3 mints in that year. Many VAM attributions won't even mention it, as a result. I hate to say it, Bottleguy, but you gotta dig deeper.
