We have some YN collectors here on CCF that more know about our hobby than many adults out there.

Quote: The accuracy of this is unbelieveable. Just because I'm 13 they think I'm a noob and just starting to collect and know nothing about coins.
But I've definitely proved them wrong It was a 9 year old who taught me how to use the Photobucket on the Internet years ago.

@childOfTheWheat Time to make lemonade with the lemons you are dealt my friend! Your own ideas about this situation are what make it annoying. Change perspective and have fun. How? The adult is likely trying to be nice and help you out. Let's face it, not many people your own age probably know as much as you do about coins, so an older person is probably trying to help. Realize (play Mission Impossible theme in background) it is actually kind of fun knowing the person talking to you has no idea you see the situation more clearly than they do. How to get out of the situation? Give them the feedback they need to see your level of understanding. Ask an intelligent question at a level that alerts them you have a grasp on things. You will likely gain respect in their eyes - adults love to see enthusiastic youth in the hobby. And guess which young collector they will think of first for giving a good deal? Eg. Adult: Look - this is called and Indian penny. They were made up until 1909 when they also started making the Lincoln... You: Excuse me sir, sorry to interrupt, but I have a question about the Indian cents. I know only about 850,000 were minted in 1877, but do you think RedBook lists the price as being way to high or pretty much correct? Also have fun looking at the surprise in their eyes. Make it a friendly game from your perspective. You have the upper hand in the situation - so enjoy it

You YN's have a very special power if you play the fool. Learn how to use it while you can. I highly suggest you guys buy a paperback copy of "The Art of War" by Sun-Tzu and read it. The power you have is eminse!

Quote: Canadians whom do not understand why no one wants to ship there. So that begs the question? Why not? I mean, if I really want something, I have a cousin in Vermont who can buy stuff for me... I sell on ebay, and a good 25% of my customer base resides in the US... For some things, like big Canadian error coins, heck the Global Shipping Program (cash grab) is something I don't even mind paying... Maybe I should go find a key date US coin (something in the $400 range), list it on ebay.com starting at 99 cents and no reserve, and specify that I do not ship to the US...

All right, I didn't post anything when this thread was originally started, but since it has now been resurrected...
1. Coins with Crap on Them. Limited edition "collector" coins with hologram stickers, little crystals, small vials of holy water, etc. Pure marketing crap guaranteed to be worth nothing once the market inevitably dries up (and the reason the market will dry up is largely due to the sheer number of these coins that get minted every year). Of course, this doesn't include my beloved 2013 Niue Island Six Ounce Silver Proof $50 "FORTUNA REDUX" Cylinder Coin because I am, of course, a hypocrite...
2. When somebody asks an opinion about a coin they own and somebody else posts that "it is an obvious fake" without bothering to explain how they know it's a fake. It may be obvious to you, but not to everybody else. And you could also be wrong.
3. Drive-by posters. I know this was mentioned earlier, but it really bugs me when new members post a thread to ask a question and then never post again, not even to thank all the people who answered.

So a few days ago I ordered a lot of junk drawer world coins because of a fairly rare Panama silver Medio Balboa in the lot. It arrived today... Duct tape. DUCT TAPE.
