Here are a few of this weeks finds. Let me know what you think.

First up is what I believe to be a 1970 LMC s/s.

A-Few-Of-My-Finds

Next up, is what I believe to be a 1974 LMC DDO. Correct me if what I'm seeing is Mechanical Doubling. Here are a few photos.

And this one is a 1953 LWC. I'm sure that the consensus on this one will be PMD, mainly because their is something not right about the appearance. It's interesting nonetheless.

A-Few-Of-My-Finds

One last one for good measure. This is a 1968-D LMC. I have no clue about this one. Saw it and photo'd it. Any ideas about the cause of this one?

If anyone has any info to share about these, please let me know.
Hope you enjoy. Have a great day.

1. First up is what I believe to be a 1970 LMC s/s. Sorry its not a RPM. The area above the lower loop is actually damage to the punch.
2. Next up, is what I believe to be a 1974 LMC DDO. Correct me if what I'm seeing is Mechanical Doubling. Here are a few photos. It is Machine Doubling not a doubled die. Note the flat shelf like doubling?
3. And this one is a 1953 LWC. I'm sure that the consensus on this one will be PMD, mainly because their is something not right about the appearance. It's interesting nonetheless. It is Die Deterioration like the "So Called poor man's doubled die". There is some damage though.
4. One last one for good measure. This is a 1968-D LMC. I have no clue about this one. Saw it and photo'd it. Any ideas about the cause of this one? This is a die gouge. When you look at a die the devices are deep into the die. (Tallest devices on a coin.) The fields are the outside of the die, thus when damage happens to the outside of the die like a gouge or die dent, it looks like it flows behind the device.
A-Few-Of-My-Finds
The hub makes the devices in the stock to make a die. Then the die is tapered to give the look we are familiar with.
A-Few-Of-My-Finds
Note on the tapered die: 1. the devices are deep into the die. 2. The fields are the outside face of the die.

Thanks for the information Coop. I appreciate you taking the time to give such detailed information. I'm going to keep the last three for now, as reference coins. I'm trying to get the family involved in this hobby and I'm going to show these around.
Thanks again and hope you all have a great day.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but I feel seeing is more important. Thus the images and detail explanation. Many have enjoyed my images and copy them for later use. I have no problem that. I take them for educational purposes and have used many from other locations to help others to learn. So keep the questions coming. I got close to 3,000 images on my image host.

I've got some more Lincoln cents that I have no clue what they are. I'll get them photographed and posted a little at a time. Most of the things I've found aren't variety coins, more of oddities and I'm interested in the causes of these types of coins. Trying to learn about my new hobby.
Thanks again.

Always best to put the images of one coin per thread. The reason I mention this is that if someone was searching for one of the threads your coin was in and you put several coins, then they would have a hard time or impossible to find it again. Just a suggestion.
