Is this considered an Error and is this a keeper or pocket change?

It's a die crack. They're extremely common, especially on the rim to the corners of the Memorial like on your coin.. They don't carry a premium but some people like to keep them. It's all up to you.

GAdawg - here's a link http://www.traildies.com/ if you are interested. This looks like one I found a while back and couldn't find a match. I contacted Traildies and submitted images but I'm still waiting to hear back. JB told me that they are very backed up.

I forgot to say welcome to the forum!
I hope you enjoy it here. Also, if you find any die cracks that are much longer or thicker than the one you posted, they may definitely be worth a premium.

EC222 - I figure you might be the one to ask. I pulled out several cents with cracks over the weekend (and many weekend prior). Mostly, I like to do the research and put a label to the coin without much thought as to is value. As noted above, some collect out of pure personal interest, but then there are those errors that interest others...making them 'valuable' to some degree. Are there specific cents that collectors should be looking out for (e.g. cracks, Cuds, trails)? Sorry if I put you on the spot unnecessarily.

Thank You for the Welcome. I'm glad I found you guys. I'm still wet behind the ears, been searching coins for about 2 months now. This is the biggest I have found so far.... I have about 3 other ones that are way smaller than this one. I have found a Statehood Quarter with similar size crack. Thanks again.

If you search this forum for titles such as "what should I look for" or "what pennies are valuable" you should be able to find some informative threads. There are lists of what to look for out there, but they will never be as complete to list every, exact variety - there are too many. Many variety searchers prefer coppercoins.com for rpm's and doubled dies, though. Hope this helps! It just takes some searching and learning and before you know it, you'll know when something is worth keeping or not. Quote: Thank You for the Welcome I look forward to your future posts!
