I must be one of the unlucky ones because I did NOT get a gold Superman coin through my rep even though I ordered promptly as soon as I got the email. I got placed on a waiting list instead. Its weird because other people got their orders confirmed by their reps. I must have a bad rep.
This whole fiasco is sure taking the shine off coin collecting for me.

Your rep is not an Elvis fan, MoneyPenney.
It's as simple as that.

Seriously, I'm sorry you missed out. Hopefully you'll be able to pick one up from a dealer like CC&C at issue price if you check early.

Good luck!

I suppose every Rep has a limited quantity to sell.

This just highlights the hypocrisy of the mint. Despite being a crown corporation, which should entail values such as equality, respect, service, etc, they pander to a small minority who will buy up a release before average Canadians even know it exists.

I can begrudgingly accept the Masters Club, but at most 1/2 of a given pieces mintage should be set asside for Masters, and the other half split between Canada Post and general release.

And currently the $10 silver coin is also awaiting stock, anyone know if the mint made the entire mintage available or will it be in parts?

@ MoneyPenney...same thing happened to me and I feel the same as you do.
Just out of curiosity can you fire me off an email, I want to see if we have the same rep.

@Anjohl
Actually, there is more than 2,000 MC members, so it's impossible to even get one gold for every MC.
Having a low mintage coin is nice for collecting, but it also have the cons of being harder to get.

Besides a very few that I've heard, the hard limit of 1 per household was strictly enforced so there is no other way they can satisfy the most people.
I'm sorry for those whose rep wasn't able to get one, but this is part of the collecting game.

My message would be a lot different if many MC member were able to get 5-10 gold ones, but this isn't the case here, strict limit of 1 per.

No need to worry about it. Those who bought more than one, in most of cases, didn't buy the coins for themselves and they will share the coins...with the premium for hard effort getting extra coins.

With the disaster release of the BOC gold coins, there is probably 5 to 6 thousand MC members, and within the MC ranks there seems to be several levels of MC status.

John, why the BoC release was disaster?
As I remember, disaster was the shipping schedule.

Being exactly one month MC that time, for full day I observed these coins on website without intention to buy (cause I collect silver and have no budget for multiple golds).
And on the morning of the second day (Nov 29-th), decided to keep the piece of history, called the Mint using general number and ordered 1914 HS $5. And that morning, the 1912 and 1914 became "Awaiting stock".

Reminds me 2013 Superman. Coins were available for everyone, not only for MC. The MC just got notice earlier "Your gold opportunity".

I think this Superman gold coin sold out faster than the 2013 Superman gold coin. I remember the first one made it to the public release but then sold out the next day.

Well ya if you remember when the first ones came out there was very little interest in them as they are only 14 karat and had a color picture of Superman on them... not until people saw that they were selling for $1000 plus on ebay did all heck break loose , then everyone wanted one, mostly to resell I presume

The 2013 superman gold coin sold much slower in the beginning because it was available to Canada only. Many collectors think that there won't be enough demand in Canada for this coin, plus being 14K (which means tax required) made it less attractive so people just wait and see. Some people speculated that this "Canada Only" arrangement was part of the deal between the Mint and DC Comics.

But a few days after it's release to public, the Mint made it available to both US and Canada and the coin got sold out quickly from the Mint. And people started hunting it from dealers like GateWest or from ebay, and that's when the coin become "hot".

The 2nd superman gold coin was made available to both US and Canada right from the beginning, plus the "success" from the 1st coin, made it sold out so much faster.

Well folks, it looks like I was wrong again...

My prediction that there would be plenty of the three silver Superman coins available from the mint upon next week's public release was incorrect.

Now the 1/2 OZ has joined the 1 OZ on the RCM site as showing "Awaiting Stock".

However, I will hazard another look into my crystal ball and predict that other dealers will still have all four coins available at issue price (but the gold won't last long, a matter of hours).

I think they blew that one out of the water this time.

Members with reps got e-mails in the middle of the night. Within 8 hours, the coins were available on-line for all MC. Non-MC could call in and order. So not only did the MC w/ rep not get the usual day or so advance notice, regular MC got virtually no advance ordering period.

The only difference I see is that MC w/ reps got an e-mail earlier whereas others didn't.

But, and this is huge. MC w/ reps only had access to the allocation of their particular rep. So if the rep sold his allocation, you were put on a waiting list. Meanwhile, others were ordering on-line and/or calling in orders and getting confirmations. That tells me that having a rep was actually a disadvantage this time around. What a joke.

If this was a coin that I wanted and my rep put me on a waiting list while the coin was available on line, I would be extremely upset. I've never seen much of an advantage of ordering though him anyway (just as easy to do it on-line) but at least in the past it hasn't been a hindrance. A new bungling first for the RCM!

If I were a mint rep, I'd expect to see my job eliminated very soon since they are now redundant.

I guess it is different for everyone, I dont have a rep, but on wednesday evening I spoke to one using the MC number, and asked him to place the order for me, the next day at like 7:40am I got an email from him with my order number, and then an hour or so later I get an email with the question marks about superman release. Many people who kept track knew about this for over a week as Canada Post got the pictures the previous thursday. Its maybe different for those who dont read the forums here or RFD on daily basis or a couple times a week, but my local Canada Post dealer told me about the superman release back in april or so (first time I met him when I went to pickup the first $50for $50 coin)

CC, I think you have stated very well what has happened with this latest Superguy release. It's clear taht there are many frustrated MC members today.

Also, your analysis of the hazards of depending on one's rep to get you that key coin is quite astute.

However, I really hope the reps don't lose their jobs.
