I Bought one from the mint, at issue, and I did so to flip it. I sold it in sept, for $1300 locally, so I was happy. I had a bad feeling after I bought it that the prices would drop dramatically.

If he sold it Locally for cash, no receipt then I would say no he wont be reporting it lol.

That said..warning to people on here bragging about selling stuff , there are People from the CRA that do watch forums etc. And it wouldn't be too hard to get your info if they wanted to.

@mts...the titles on those fake Superman coin set listings were deceptive but the descriptions were accurate. I suspect a scam bidding operation to create a buzz but who knows maybe its just ignorant greedy buyers who dont read English well.......On another note..the 2014 new Superman gold coin is still making a 300plus CAD$ profit for any seller so its still a great buy.......at only a mere 2k mintage this coin has a great future

re:: ebay fake coin set sales:::::seller cannot force buyer to pay for this item ::neither the seller or buyer can be forced to cancel a transaction but the seller wont receive a refund on fees etc unless the transaction is cancelled::seller can offer the item to the next highest bidder..in this case its 203.00!!very messy business and typical of these fake coin overpriced transactions which end in grief for the buyer........but I'mpretty sure the buyer can get their money back if they make a proper paypal claim..however that takes time.....and there are many horror stories....solution is buyer beware and read carefully before you bid!!

After the ebay fees you are not making $300, considering the last 3 coins sold for just a little over $1000 each. Still a positive return anyway.

Not sure about the great future since the coin has been on a downward trend shortly after its release. It was never as successful as the 2013 Superman coin which consistently sold in the $2000 range. The 2014 coin didn't come close to selling for $2000 at anytime.

@moneypenny.....I agree with you ...the current profit margins are lower than I suggested .......However ....the Superman 2014 gold coin is in early stages of release but mathematics and demand for the Superman brand will prevail in the end.....the 2013 Gold Superman seems to be at the the approx 2000.00CAD level after 1.5 years on the market with very few solo coins for sale and I think thats a good indication of the continuing success of these releases....despite the proliferation of replicas these original coins have excellent potential and sustained demand from new and established collectors.

@omxfl.....its a mathematical certainty that this 2014 Gold Superman will also increase in value over time just like the 2013 ...who cares about the short term values except for flippers? Its a great buy right now and as long as there are sellers who will offer it for those prices there will be buyers for sure.......we cant really have a serious discussion about value for this coin for another year or so. just my opinion ...i do enjoy the discussion but lets talk about more interesting stats like the continuing demand and high price on the 2013 Gold Superman...its hard to find a solo coin these days for under 2300 CAD$...i predict this will also be true for the 2014 in time....why wouldnt it be? collectors love the Superman brand for the last 75 years and they arent stopping now...

Yes and no. If I would have plotted the graph in CAD I think that prices would have been largely flat. But then I do not know if the buyers are from the US or Canada. This makes it difficult to determine if there is truly a decline in prices or if it is just because of exchange rates.
A lot will depend on the RCM releasing more Superman coins this or next year - imho at least. If they don't, I fear that prices will soften further as the market will have been flooded with more 'junk' coins by then. And yes, all of them are first of its kind and utterly unique (no pun intended).
The reason that prices for the 2013 Superman are still high is because this coin was bought by collectors rather than flippers. Hence, the market is pretty tight as the majority that were sold are now sitting in collections and not in a flipper's home.

This is very true.

I think, the 2014 being even more appeal with the design, but people bit chilled with the Superman theme. At the end, how many same themed coins the Mint can "push" in order still be unique? So the 2014 mainly was purchased by people that not intended to keep it, targeting for the good profit. But the collectors do not feel is as "must have" specially for increased price.

I have all the silver superman coins from both yrs and I enjoy them very much. My favorite is the hologram one. However, I will not be purchasing further superman coins. The 2013 were exciting and unique, they had a reason for being - 75 Th anniversary. Last yr designs were nice, however, no real reason to be minted! Further releases are meaningless and a potential money grab for the mint. The next release needs to be the 100th anniversary. People I think will be really Luke warm to another release this year. There just isn't that much disposable income to support unending releases on the same theme. I'm only a mildly interested fan, I bought them for their uniqueness and historical ties, along with strong design and presentation. The one miss on 2014 offering is the presentation, they needed to keep the cases the same. There's no continuity when displayed together. Plus the boxed coins don't stand up to be displayed.

I real hope the RCM doesn't jump on the pop culture band wagon, there's too much over saturation coming from the Aussie mints. When there was quarterly releases, there was excitement to see what was new, as the the offerings were small. They also didn't break the bank.
Now we have monthly releases with several selections and prices 5X spot. Another way of looking at prices, is how many hrs of work to afford a coin. Remembering not all consumers are in $20 or up jobs. It was nice when a person could expect a coin to hold it's value or maybe increase by 10%.
Today when a coin is purchased new, it's value decreases in mere months. I'm starting to feel the potential lost money, is better donated to charity where it can benefit someone. I also understand there's no real loss until a sale takes place. However, sometimes an emergency will occur, resulting in partial sale of a collection.

So with all these factors in play, I wonder how many collectors will be interest in a 2015 or 2016 release?

Nice to see you back on track, Pocket Change! I would agree with your thoughts. The second release had a luck to be like continue of the theme of the 2013 Gold Coin - comics cover, but it was unneccesary. I believe, that majority of people do not want to see the next Superman releases. But : if it will be issued, and will be "hot" (sells good on the secondary market) - everyone will jump on it, also to resell and for their collections, even if the Superman will be on the coin together with Spounge Bob. And according to people from CCF and other forum - mint will release Superman or other superhero stuff. I do not afraid to tell - all same silver gold buttons junk - I do not remember myself looking on the 2013 S-man coins, that I bought.
