I am impressed that they kept the issue size and price the same as the first 14k gold coin. This one may look better than the first one since the S will be so prominent.

There would be both GST and PST on that purchase so 10% in Saskatchewan.

Looks like this one will be available to anyone who really wants one at list price.
With all the hype of the last one I thought it would sell out instantly with the flippers all over it.
I guess well know in a few days.

@falcon

Once again we gotta be careful on how fast it sell-out. Besides us, hardcore coin collectors following forums and all, noone even knew this release was coming until this morning.
This morning, reps sent the official release to some of their clients, and now it's up online for MC members, then those who login will see it.

That's it. All other MC, regular collectors and Superman fans are to discover it.

And to add at this, hard limit of 1 is enforced but for very few ones who succeeded in getting 2 from their rep.

With the 1 per house hold a lot more fans will have the chance to own the coin. The tax on that thing is no joke.

The limitation of 1 can create:

if the general people collectors will like the coin, there will be less "movement" on the secondary market, the coin will be more appreciated , since many will purchase for themselves only.

In opposite case, everyone has a chance to get one, and doesn't meter, good or bad coin, the target will be just quickly resell it (even with couple of hundreds premium, its nice, cause no need to do the thing) - this will create many offers on the secondary market - which will not be good for the "quick term" re-sellers.

I think that hardcore coin collectors see this for what it is - a gimmicky coin for Superman collectors cashing in on the first one produced last year.

I also think that Superman collectors see this second coin as a cash grab and know that fakes will soon flood the market...likely by the weekend. If I'm a Superman collector (and not a coin collector) I probably just buy the fake, or don't bother. There is plenty of SM stuff on the market so why do I need a very expensive and small gold coin?

Logically, the people who want this coin are contained in the union of a Venn diagram that includes sets of SM and coin collectors. I suspect that union is relatively small.

Will the RCM hold another release presser in Toronto? That got a lot of publicity and pushed sales and secondary market prices. Without that, the word will likely not reach the SM crowd and thus the price may not skyrocket as some of you are predicting. Is there a lot of chatter on the SM forums this morning?

That said, the frenzy on the gold coins will be over soon as flippers place their bets. What remains to be seen is whether or not collectors will pay premiums (including the already inflated premium the RCM includes in a 750 plus tax issue price).

On the other hand, at least it's something to keep this part of the forum from being a wasteland.

Only problem I see is they can make a gold superman coin based on any superman comic cover at any time in the future, will they all be in such a high demand? I wonder .... if they keep making them I dont see the value holding up at all, why must the mint mess up one of the few decent coins by making more and more of the same theme.
