Hello all,
I have been searching their site and I am thinking about buying some older silver proof sets. I don't like the fact that they don't offer a product description or have any reviews to read. If you have bought proof sets and were you happy with the condition of the proof boxes and CoA let me know.

Thank you

Only one purchase personally, was OK. Although, I've heard from others that they're good. Can't attest to the quality of their proof-sets. I've bought a bunch of silver one-ounce bars, all fine.

My friend has purchased some silver bars and I believe some basic 90% silver. No proofs but he said the transaction went pretty smooth and the coins were as expected.

I've purchased a few silver bars from them. Pretty standard business; you pay and get your item as described about 5 days later. No previous experience with their proof sets though.

It's been awhile and it was at a coin show, cherrypicked an 1824 N-5 (R-5) large cent off of them for about $20.

I bought some MS70 Silver Eagles from them. No problem. They've been around a while - did you know that the founder, Leon Hendrickson, bought the Dexter 1804 dollar from Dr. George Vogt in 1985 for half a million dollars and sold it at auction in 1989 for $990,000?

Thanks everyone for the reviews. I am hesitant to purchase because they don't describe the condition of the old boxes or the coins in the lens. I have seen some beat up boxes and coins that are tarnished in old proof sets. They do have a return policy if needed.

I was looking at goldmart and their policy is that all sales are final. I won't buy anything from them.

Have bought numerous times....silver bars, rounds, buffalo, etc. No problems. Live in Hawaii so free shipping is nice.

I haven't purchased proof sets but have bought individual coins and slabbed coins. All were fine.

They are a great source of coins, but Silvertowne is certainly not the best value. I consider their prices to be higher-end retail. You can almost always get a better deal shopping around on ebay, or getting 250 posts and buying from members here.

I was a little mad at myself at a recent purchase from Silvertowne. I paid $9.00 more by pre-ordering from them instead of waiting for the coin to be posted on ebay. I pre-ordered the 2014-W PCGS PR70 First Strike ASE from the Silvertowne website. Almost immediately after it shipped, I saw Silvertowne selling the same coins on ebay at their pre-order price, but without the $9.00 shipping charge. I don't know what business model this practice follows, but it made me think twice about pre-ordering from them!

I bought from them once, it was ok, very fast shipping and good deal.
The customer service was not the best tough.

I bought some ASEs earlier this year from them with no problems.

If you watch their website they occasionally run great sales with free shipping.

As with everything else, I would suggest comparing their prices to the other large retail websites, ebay, etc...

I have gotten some great Seated Liberty halves in their auctions, just have to buy at the right time and the right price!
