rupester Pillar of the Community United States 1300 Posts	Posted 05/26/2014 1:45 pm This is a type 2 the type one has bold lettering and the last S of states the lower portion of the S is more turned upwards. hcmusicguy Pillar of the Community United States 814 Posts	Posted 05/26/2014 3:15 pm I've heard that the lettering on some strikes is not always a distinct giveaway--although in my experience I've always been able to use that method without a problem. Another way is to check the first U's on PLURIBUS and UNUM. On a Type 1 they will be pretty closely lined up. On Type 2, they will not. Also, all silver Bicentennial Ikes are Type 1. I carried a clad Type 1 as a pocket piece for some months up until just recently, so got to know the little details like that. I recently spent it at the LCS Kind of regret that. TJB17 Valued Member United States 492 Posts	Posted 05/26/2014 3:41 pm Besides the blockiness of the letters in general, my go to indicator for type I or II is the ends of the horizontal bar of the T's. For the Type I they will be vertical \| \|, and for the Type II they will be slanted / \. Report this Post to the Staff

They are shaped completely different, and on the type 2 the tail of the S only come up to the top of the bottom bar of the E.
