Is it legal to buy them?

I think, technically, it not legal. Since you entering to "distribution chain".

But I am not sure and it just my thought.
because:
If I'll just prepare and use in game "Monopoly money" by writing on the paper "Canada" and "$20" - will it be also illegal?

I've seen tons of these replica superman coins for sale on ebay. I actually own the original ones, bought from the RCM and I want to buy a fake set just to compare them to the originals.

Is it legal to buy them?

P.S. technically all the sellers on ebay that I've seen don't claim them to be real but "replicas" and "plated". However, they do have a " CANADA 20$ Dollars, 10$ Dollars..." etc engraved on them so does that make them counterfeit?

My main concern is it legal for me to buy them? I dont want to get in trouble!

Thanks for your input Silveroid.

Anyone else? Legal or not to buy?

Check with USA law. Not Canada's. People still buy them from every country. Most Border security aren't money experts. In Canada you'd run a risk.

Thanks Coin Chick. Wonder if anyone in this forum has ordered any fakes? Intentionally or not.

How can protect myself from buying one of the fakes? what can I check for with 2014 superman gold? This is really scary. My confidence in the secondary market is lost.

Relic
Make sure there is a COA and packaging with it. Examine it against known fakes posted here or ask advice on specific coins. Be careful buying outside of Canada. That said, they are circulating here as well

What if somebody swapped a fake for the real coin and sells in RCM packaging?

The other day I looked at a superman gold coin, the shell was loose in the packaging, I found out this is normal (sadly)... But it made me think fake and start reading this thread.

I looked around the Internet and a certain Site that rhymes with baba is selling the whole set for 10 bucks!

Back to page one: China only used blackpowder for use in fireworks, and very crude bamboo cannons to little avail. And around the same time later, Francis Bacon discovered blackpowder and Europeans used it for canons almost exclusively. One cannot just say someone invented things that appear naturally on Earth and then say one can only use it for a single purpose. Superman was an Chimeric invention of specific details from the imaginations of two individuals. BIG difference there. When someone infringes on your creative efforts that's theft. It involves a little more than a simple concoction of naturally occurring elements.

To page 3: I don't know if they are really legal tender, as time has proven that banks don't take them as circulating currency, and they certainly don't circulated with any regularity. I think that the main issue is taking a coin that should be gold, but faking it, using designs specific to the RCM, and passing them off without warning on the coin itself. ebay disclaimer be danged - if it gets passed on again the coin does not disclaim it. There are laws concerning gold coins; I'll have to dig up the specifics when I have a free weekend. Plating is obvious but only if you know that you're looking for plating.

Until now, NCLT fakes are very bad quality, so if you have seen the original, it's very easy to realise.

As I said, I consider very bad quality the NCLT fakes I've seen.

Does anybody have a picture they can post of a 2014 superman fake? The pictures on the "baba" site are low quality.
Or, direct me to a website with high quality pictures...

Wonder if there are any fakes of the 2014 Superman coins out there. I've only seen fakes of the 2013 superman coins.

Yes, this is 2013 and not 2014.
I believe, the "mint" hasn't minted yet gold plated 2014 coin.

Just example:

Superman 2013 Gold Plated Clad Coin

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Superman-201...em25991ad1fe

In this case the seller is honest, since call to this exactly by it's name.

As I remember, majority of them have size of 1oz silver round - 38mm-40mm

Yeah, and if you've seen the original one, easily you realize this is fake.
