Quote:Anyone else think this is the wrong year for the 50th Anniversary Kennedy half? This is actually the 51st year for the coin, it's 50th year was 2013. Still, it would be a nice send off if they got smart and eliminated the 50 cent piece This is fuzzy thinking. The Kennedy was first issued in 1964 and its first anniversary was 1965. This is absolutely the 50th anniversary of the coin and the 51st year of its existence. I wonder if PCGS will include the gold coins in the Registry Set definitions? That would make for a strange set, with dozens of silver coins and one gold. But stranger things have happened ... Best Regards, George

And the bags/rolls are NOT the dual date version. They were available in Feb I believe. I have the 2 roll sets myself. UNLESS they are different but according to the US MINT site I just checked they show the Non dual date version on the site atm.

I thought only the gold coin will have the dual date? Did I miss something?

So a limit of 5 gold proofs per household but no production limits....
Interesting....

In there descriptions the mint keeps saying "Each coin features the 1964 Kennedy half-dollar coin design on the coin, but is inscribed with the year 2014"
So are we talking accented hair design?
And if we're talking about 1964 design will the mint marks be on the reverse including the P?
If not then the $10 2 piece clad uncirculated set is just an overpriced box with a buck in change in it.

No, not the accented hair I dont think. The 64 half is different than the current low relief funky haired one today. Its not just a few bucks in a box. It will be 2 ounces of silver in 4 different finishes one from each mint and be the original design. I am all in on all three products. Even the simple P&D unc set. And certainly the gold.

People, based on what I see and read what we are looking at is a clad 2 coin set with no mention of a four coin silver set whatsoever. Sounds to me like the four coin set was ditched unless it gets its "reveal" when the fourth historical installment of the Kennedy History comes out. From the above post "2 ounces of silver in 4 different finishes"... Assuming the do make this set it won't be a full two ounces of silver even if they are made in .999 silver. By my math you are looking at something like 1.6 ounces.
Does anyone else find it odd that with a mere few weeks to go, there are no images of what the two coin set or the gold coin will look like?

Quote: People, based on what I see and read what we are looking at is a clad 2 coin set with no mention of a four coin silver set whatsoever. Did you click the link? http://www.usmint.gov/pressroom/?ac...ease&id=159250th Anniversary Kennedy Half-Dollar Silver Coin Collection (product code K13) - $99.95 The set is composed of four coins-one from each of the United States Mint's production facilities-struck in 90 percent silver in four finishes: One reverse proof coin from the United States Mint at West Point One proof coin from the United States Mint at Philadelphia One enhanced uncirculated coin from the United States Mint at San Francisco, and One uncirculated coin from the United States Mint at Denver. Each coin features the 1964 Kennedy half-dollar coin design, but is inscribed with the year 2014. The encapsulated coins are secured in coin wells within an embossed leatherette-type folder that includes the same image of John F. Kennedy that appears on the coins in this set, with patriotic imagery of stars and stripes. The removable capsules allow visibility of both sides of the coins, which are housed on packaging that can be displayed as a trifold or stored and protected by an outer sleeve. The United States Mint logo is on the front of the folder, and the Department of the Treasury seal is on the back. A booklet with information and images about the design of the 1964 Kennedy half-dollar coin and a certificate of authenticity accompany each set. The United States Mint is scheduled to release this in the fall of 2014.

I stand corrected....the link I found made no mention of the silver set! Just the clad set and gold.

The holder for the two coin set has a big 5 on Kennedy's face. I finally figured out that it's the 5 in 50 with the coin being the zero.
