I should also say that I have quite a collection of foreign coins that have found their way into penny rolls. There are a whole host of coins minted around the world that are perfect matches (size wise) to the U.S. penny.
I can find these world coins without doing any traveling.

Ghostrider====================== Quote: 1: Ikes - the last of the cartwheels. I can still find them irregularly at banks for face value. Love to play poker with my lesser quality coins and picture myself as an old western gambler.

I love the 7070 album so much because I really am a type collector at heart. I love the history of coins and love tracing the development throughout time. I just haven't found any passion for any particular coin or denomination to the point where I want to try collecting all dates, mint marks, etc. I just want to own as many different types as possible and, over time, upgrade to the best examples I can afford. This also applies to currency and I have started what will likely prove to be a lifelong quest to at least get examples of every major type from 1900 on up. I might someday work on getting earlier currency, but the cost goes up stratospherically once you start getting much earlier than 1900.
Other than that, I do have a weakness for proof coins and enjoy picking them up whenever I can find them at a price I can afford. I don't really have any goals in mind for them, however, and even have some duplicates.

Morgans will always be first in my heart. But it's a pretty narrow gap to Bust Halves. And Brown Lincolns. And early Russian copper. And SLQ's. And Half Cents. And Seated halves. And FE's. Basically, I'm in trouble.

I have a passion obsession for collecting all modern coins. I would like to acquire at least one of each type coin from every country, but full sets would be even better. I doubt I will ever complete this task, but I will keep adding to it, till I die. Steve

Most of you know from my signature and avatar it is is obvious!
2¢ Pieces by variety and die pairings
I also have been getting very into Numismatic Bibliomania (book collecting), my library is fast approaching 1000 titles now.
VAMs for years, I concentrated on the 1878 coins, and helped with Jeff Oxman and Les Harnett's great 1878-P 8 Tailfeather book during the initial writing.
I also have been researching (more than buying) Early American Coppers.
Any variety and error always gets me interested especially ones pre 1950.
Any classic U.S. Coinage, I'm not much for keeping coins made after 1950.
If I had real money I'd be collecting U.S. pattern coins.

United States currency is my real passion and that's what I first started collecting. I then got into coins after that. I really enjoy high grade "full band" Mercury dimes and old proofs. I also have a thing for early UNC LWCs (hence my avatar) with an attractive brown color or red color.

Wow I'm so different from all of you lol. Here's a list of what I collect, the higher in the list, the more important it is to me: - Umayyad Dynasty dirhams, dinars, and falus - Abbasid Dynasty dirhams, dinars, and falus - Arab-sassanian silver dirhams - Qatar & Dubai coinage - Palestine coinage (prior to 1946)
Yeah, I'm really different from you all...

Personally, I like going through Nickel rolls! I collect Nickels, Pre 1960! and also when I see a Buffalo nickel I get that awesome feeling like I was just struck by lightening! Maybe one day I will luck out and find a Liberty nickel in a roll :) But like somebody stated above me...it changes every week :) ,Trevor.

Yeah, I'm really different from you all... Well those are different coins, yes. But, being from UAE, you are collecting coins with historical importance for your region. So not really so different. Coins are a tangible way to literally hold history in your hand, so it's natural to be interested in history that is relevant to you. Most people on this forum are Americans, so that's why American coin collectors are the most prevalent.

Primary Focus --> Capped Bust half dollars and to a lesser degree other Capped Bust Coinage! Secondary --> Seated and other pre-civil war coinage. Also like large size, fractional, and colonial currency.

German verinsthalers from the 19th Century Indian Rupees from both Native States and Mughal or Martha empires etc. Bronze Roman Provincial coinage of Diadumenian
Hows that for an eclectic primary focus
I'll also pick up anything that takes my fancy - though I don't usually pick up anything from the Americas .
