I stopped by a local pawn shop to see if they had anything interesting to look at. I go there on a regular basis, and even though they seem a little high on most things I have bought a few coins from them.

I noticed in the case that they had 5 1893 Columbian Half Dollars that looked to be lightly circulated and in pretty good shape overall. I decided to see what they wanted for them, and then noticed a Pilgrim Tercentenery half tucked away in a corner. I asked the young man helping me for a price on it and he said he would have to check with the "boss". The boss then told him that the Columbians were $19 each and the "other one was $13 because they aren't worth very much.

I'm not up to speed on commemoratives but thought that $13 had to be a good price, I grabbed what I thought was the nicest Columbian and the Pilgrim half. I was wondering what you guys thought of my deal on the Pilgrim.

IS that the 1920 or 1921? The 21 is worth more. At $13 that was a steal!

It is a 1920. I tried to post a pic of the reverse, but had some trouble with it. It looks nicer in hand than that pic I did post.

Dang that's pretty good. I wouldn't know what the price is mentally but definitely a pretty good take!

In fine condition it's worth about $49 up to $72 in AU50. I'd say you did well.

It's great when they think that a Pilgrim is worth less than Columbians. I've never found any bargins at pawn shops and have only found 2 cents at Coinstars.
