Most of the 'task rabbits' were figuring out meals, sleep, transportation home and/or when to line up for the next night. When I left at 5:30p on Wednesday there were already 50 in line.
Now I did see several examples of the coin and it is LOVELY. I'm not cancelling my online order and I will keep it for my collection. My beef is solely with the label malarky.

Not a really valid complaint as anyone who paid the $6 registration fee would be allowed to wander about the entire show. Not nee I agree. You make a valid point. I was trying to be delicate in my description of the hired hands. I do not like to judge by appearances and I do feel sorry for people who are in dire situations regardless of the reason for their circumstance. But having dozens of them, perhaps tired, perhaps hungry, etc. makes me think of playing with matches near a powder keg. It could have turned into a mess and I can't help but think that a lot of the security guards there were hired to protect the merchandise and would not have been free to help anyone except for the dealers that hired them. The people expressing concern were not the dealers with private security guards in the premium area, but the dealers who were sharing a spot or clubs that had some merchandise or prizes. Anyway, there could have been hundreds of plainclothes security guards.... I don't know. It's just a shame that people felt so uneasy. Still, as far as I know, nothing went wrong at the show.

I don't believe that us mint stopped sales for safety reasons.. that is the excuse they are giving. I think they stopped sales because someone might actually care about coin collectors. and they are unhappy, they aren't making the huge profits.

Went to a LCS yesterday and asked their feeling about the gold kennedy. They say that they have over 20 and are not sure what their price will be. They said that they will be evaluating the coins marketability before getting the coins graded and setting a price for them.
Malarky......................

Somebody stood in line for 8-12 hours and expects a fair return for it. So 1240 + 250 + 100 for the label -- their cost is 1600. If he doesn't flip 'em quick that's a lot of cash to tie up in an asset that might crater in value.

Quote: I was trying to be delicate in my description of the hired hands. In effect, buddy, what you're saying without pointing out the obvious was the proxy buyers weren't the typical gun/coin show attendee, i.e., a stolidly middle class older white male. Maybe that's why I never have felt comfortable going to coin shows because I don't fit that demographic either. Wow. A public relations disaster for the U.S. Mint from many angles, some which will be certainly from the mainstream press. Maybe that will curtail their desire to emulate the RCM or Perth, as they'll never consciously plan on doing this kind of crazy release again. By comparison the 25th Anniversary ASE set release was a veritable garden party compared to the scenes at the four different venues this week.

I'm sure others have seen it but APMEX wants $5000 for a PR70 Chicago labeled Kennedy. That is a "Sale" price.

Any other reputable sites have pcgs pr70 available for presale or sale? I can only find ANA labels for 5k and I don't subscribe to that money for a label

Just got my shipping notice as well. Sadly, I'll be traveling all next week, so I'll have to wait awhile before I can see it (and hope that my family doesn't open the package and destroy it before I get home...)

macmercury, thanks for the update. That is not a bad markup if you are getting a PR70 and delivered. Higher then it was for the RP Buffalo but this one is much more popular.
