I predict it's going to cost $1,100 and it will be made to demand. If they do put a limit on production it will surely be more than the 50,000 they set the baseball coins at. I will buy at least one, maybe two.

Quote: I predict it's going to cost $1,100... If they come in that cheap it will be worth buying for sure. Melt is currently almost $1,000 and for a limited edition gold proof? $1,100 would be a dream come true.

Still no word on production totals. From their statement that there's a 5 order limit per household I infer that there is a total production limit.

Rumor on another forum said 75,000 pieces total for the .9999 gold proof.

I would think if they were going to put a production limit on the gold (or any of the products) they would have already announced it.
My "rumor" is.... mint as many as ordered for a period of one month.

I think this is what people said they wanted when the baseball coins sold out the first day. From that wording I gather there is no mintage limit and a 5 coin per person limit to speed up everyone getting their coins on the first wave. After sales slow down they will open up the sales to no limit to try to make some profit and then finally close the sales after a few months.

I agree with the no total mintage probability....but...the 5/household sounds good BUT those big boys that want 100 or more will now, instead of making one order and moving on, have their 20+ "friends" also get online to really clog up the process on day one. After day one it should be fine....as it would have been without the limit. ...and...are the 2014 Kennedy halves really considered to be commemoratives? The special striking/varieties in the 20th and 25th ASE sets were not

Yep, sounds like you guys are right at 5/household and no limit on the total mintage. I heard only one month of availability. Anybody else hear that?

Quote:are the 2014 Kennedy halves really considered to be commemoratives? While the dual-dated gold 2014 Kennedy half dollar has a commemorative aspect to it, I would not consider it a true modern US commemorative coin. The coin essentially marks the 50th anniversary of itself. If a special version of the Kennedy half dollar was issued in 2013 to mark the 50th anniversary of Kennedy's assassination or were to be issued in 2017 to mark the centennial of his birth, then I would consider the coins to be true commemorative pieces. The current offering? Not so much!
