I got an email from Coin World yesterday that had some additional info on the gold halves..... Current support for production to demand. 40,000 coins have been minted and are ready to go. 2,000 coins are to be made available at the ANA show beginning on Aug 5th. Limit of 2 per customer at the coin show and max of 500 coins per day (it won't be nearly enough.....collectlors who didn't get one will ask why they didn't limit it to 1 per person or make more available.) To avoid early lineup they won't announce where they'll be selling, or where the line forms until 15 to 30 mins. before the sale (there we will be an unruly stampede. People will get hurt and they'll change that idea the next day. Sale price won't be announced until close to the day of the sale.

Just got my 'Post Card' advertisement from the mint for this series in the mail yesterday.
If I could, I would get the gold.
I know a lot of people are in the same boat as well.
Not for the 'Gold' as gold just for the series.

Those attending the ANA will able to get them that day and get them graded on the same day... They'll make a killing. I might end up ordering the gold one as well. Anyone here ordering the 4 coins set?

You never know ........ When the mint went to their 30 day window for the San Francisco set, every one thought the same thing. The ordering is going to go thorough the roof now that there were no longer mintage limits, like on the 2006 and the 2011 sets. Every one was disgusted at the lack of published and didn't bother ordering one and look what happened. The reverse proof is the second lowest RP and the 5th lowest silver eagle ever. Would have been the 3rd rarest proof coin ever, if the mint hadn't screwed everyone with the coin and currency set. So you never know.

Good point D7....I much prefer the one month ordering period. At least that way there is some finality to the product. With the mint to demand it could go on forever (well, at least to the end of the year)

There was about a 30 second fluff piece on the local ABC affiliate here in Los Angeles tonight about the Kennedy halves. They had video of workers putting gold coins into fancy boxes and silver coins were also visible. They didn't really get close enough to tell if it was the actual Kennedy coins or just some stock footage though. Didn't really provide any new information. Said the Kennedy family wanted the coin redone so it might be more flattering.

This morning I finally got around to reading the latest Coin World which has a front page story on the Kennedy issues. Contained therein is information about the pricing of the gold 3/4 ounce half that was gleaned from the July 3 issue of the Federal Register. Why do we have to get information of this nature second-hand? Why can't they list the pricing structure on the mint.gov site in a place where people can easily find it instead of listing it in the Federal Register?

Here's another burning question regarding the gold Kennedys that no one has put forth as yet........Am I going to get a free mint bag with my purchase?

The following was part of the press release announcing the Kennedy commemorative products: "Pricing will be in accordance with the United States Mint pricing schedule for gold coins, which is available at http://www.usmint.gov/catalog." Here's a link to a page where the specifics can be found: http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wc...ntifier=1000

I know they have the price structure grid for gold commems, but I don't think it's easy to find. I had to search pricing structure to find it and this morning I didn't see where it had a column for 3/4 ounce coins and the pricing is different depending on finishes. I followed your links, and maybe I'm slow (probably), but I don't see any pricing for the Kennedy gold coins, or any gold coins in general. I just think it could be easier. I know it will probably be more visible come August 4th or so (I hope), but I'd like to see details easily accessed as soon as they come available.

They don't have any current 3/4 oz coins, do they?
If you split the difference between list for 1/2 oz and 1 oz coins at current gold prices you get about $1250. I'd guess it would be slightly higher than that. $1299 is my prediction if Gold stays around $1300 an ounce, which means a pretty big price premium over $1000 bullion value.
