A lot of the info he states on the show is sometime stretching the facts, but due to TSC taking a decent cut from every sale and that TSC is in control of the sales, one can conclude that the sold # are correct except for cancellations. It seems that the combined sales at CCC and TSC have already exceeded the 350 set mark, but they are probably coolest coin of the year.

Quote: Maybe he's misleading everyone. Maybe he's posting fake numbers to try and boost sales. Is anything said by him accurate anyways? As well just because someone purchases one they could change their mind and cancel it. Maybe those aren't being deducted from the count. Without seeing the show, but reading all your replies, will say - all the show is fake. All the phrases of the guy, numbers...etc. Isn't it the "Shopping Channel", where the salesman presenting the "most useful" stuff and try to sale it? The same with the coins. Btw, agree that many people put in the ebay listings: "Sold out at the Mint" even when: **The minting Mint has never distributed the coins **The coins still available at the Mint (website /boutique) **The Mint sold-out, but the coin is available at Dealers and the PO. So it just sales and marketing. Partial true and fake. With this non-transparency I would assume, that the amount of the set could be as high as the total Mintage (Max 1500) and boxes produced by demand.

Here's the thing...for me.
I could not care less what Steve Bromberg or the shopping channel say. Bromberg, in particular, let's say exaggerates about most of what he sells be it 'scarce' 2012 pennies or big coins selling out in 3 minutes and now selling for $1000 in the secondary market.
It's all part of the show. I find it entertaining and would make a good drinking game. Take a drink whenever he says something false...you likely won't see then end of the first hour.
What I do care about is my Mint rep telling me there are 350 sets worldwide and then discovering that is incorrect. That is a major breach of trust. If I can't trust the Mint and it's representatives to be factual and accurate, then I'm out of the coin hobby.
And come on Steve, put on some gloves. No one wants a coin that you've mauled on TV.

It's only 0002/1500 that he's playing with on TV. It's not as if it was 0001/1500. He wouldn't want a less than perfect coin in his own collection. I wonder if the coins are actually numbered in the order they get stamped.

He 'plays' with all of the coins. Last night he was holding 1kgs, big coins, 1997 Mountie 1oz gold (supposedly very rare), ancient coins etc. He even touches some coins with regular 'pocket change'. I don't believe for one second that he doesn't sell those coins he's touching and scratching. But even if he does keep for himself or as 'samples', I think it is sacrilege for anyone to touch pristine NCLT coins. Just leave them in the capsules. COAs and coins are not related in anyway. #1 is no more special than #829 other than market perception.

The coins numbered in rare cases when the S/N appears on the edge of the coin, and in this case - probably numbered in order of minting. Usually, coins never got numbered, just the Certificate, which inserted randomly to the cases / boxes (after all "good" numbers were put a side, by request of employees/friends/other related people).

Someone needs to pose the question to Steven about his handling the coins with bare hands. I wonder what his response would be?

I suppose there would be glares on the cameras if they left the coin in the capsule. That's probably why they get handled out of the holders. But come on, at least wear gloves. To his credit, he's helped keep coin collecting alive

He could just have the coin on a pedestal or small holder rotating in the lighting, God that would be easy enough to shoot, the camera person must get frustrated with him spinning and mauling the coins, notice the manicure while clinking a loonie up against the large loonie COA #2, that one just went down in value, if you get it, send it back. Also the 1 kilo Year of the Goat, all mucked up. Gold Mountie, oiled. On the plus side for Steve; I must say that I have purchased sold out coins from CCC and TSC and some blockbuster deals can see the price of a set go to 1/2 price, good fodder for trading for coins you want. The large coin total looks to be 1500 when advertised as 350, this is a trust issue.

Saw the show tonight & like the big loonie even more now....mine shipped from CC&C on friday & I cant wait until it arrives....part of me wishes I didnt cheap out & bought the set, however $3300 is alot of dough....IMO these big coins are some of the best stuff from the RCM since the farewell to the penny collection and are being overseen because they were released the same time as the superman coin.....superman is all hype because the fact that on the secondary market folks are easily flipping them & makeing a good profit...... Im sure if these 5 ounce big loonies were going for $1100.00 on ebay, everyone would think that they were the best thing since sliced bread.....maybe one day ;)

Glad you like the coins and I sort of like them too but it wouldn't matter what they were selling for on ebay IMO. They are available through at least two dealers at issue. Oddly, Bromberg keeps telling viewers they are already "selling for $1000 in the secondary market" yet there is not evidence of that. My problem with the coins is the market manipulation. Bromberg approaches the Mint, has them create the coins, saves the low COAs for himself - likely to sell and ridiculous premiums -, creates an early sell out at the Mint and then shows up on the shopping channel with a truckload of them. It just doesn't pass the smell test. At $3300 for the set, again in my opinion, there is little room for it to appreciate. They should make a nice display but they also push the envelope of 'coin' collecting.

Wow...Bromberg is on the Home Shopping Channel....selling the set. $549.95 per coin.... On the 4th coin, you get the 6 coin wooden case as issued by the Mint for free and on the 6th coin, AND a FREE 2015 Royal Canadian Mint Silver Proof Set! Plus you can use easy pay! Better deal than the Mint! Steve mentioned on tv that he got certificate #1 out of 1,500 on the Loonie and that is in his personal collection! He showed certificate #2 on air. He said,he has "connections at the Mint". ;)

PVR'ed the Coin Show last night to watch it this morning. TSC running total that I last saw for this set was at 311 sold.....Now Steve Bromberg tells me the Mint sold out in 3 minutes on the release date. Mint also states on their website there is only 350 subscriptions that will be sold.
So I'm guessing here the Mint sold out in 3 minutes because they maybe had 10 subscriptions to sell. Looks like Steve Bromberg had most of the rest. I also see Colonial Acres had some as well. Also the Big Coin Series is still available on the CCC and TSC Websites.
Regardless I bought it because I like it. Silver Coins with the Gold Plating are the best. Too bad I passed on the 5 oz. Penny 2 years ago.......
