In the promo, the case from Coin and Currency has the RCM logo. Hopefully it is one of the 350 and not something else?

So how many boxes ARE out there anyway? 350? 500? 700? 1000?
Additional boxes are going devalue the set.

Sent to a note to both my rep (cancelled my spot on the wait list, if such a thing even exists) and Coin and Currency to clarify how many RCM branded cases are available worldwide. Hopefully I get the straight answer and not the weasel voice. The rep early notice email mentioned 350 sets (we assume cases) but the RCM website does not say this. From the email, Good morning, As one of our most valued customers, we are delighted to provide you with priority access to some of our newest limited-edition coins. Today only, and before some of our other loyal customers, you can view and order from our latest collection. The items listed here are not yet available on our website and can only be ordered by contacting me directly by email or phone. Among the many treasures available, I have highlighted one specific item that we anticipate being a rapid sell-out. Celebrating the history and artistry of Canadian circulation coinage, this new series features Canada's six circulation coins. Each coin is made of five ounces of fine silver (99.99%) and is beautifully enhanced with selective gold plating on both the reverse and obverse. This unique six-coin subscription is limited to only 350 sets worldwide and comes with an elegant wooden collector case, which is free when you subscribe.

What I believe, the reps were miss-informed. Off cause someone knows the truth, but not the guys and ladies, that rushed to "shoot" the mail out.
It still un-acceptable, but think: will you cancel your sub and buy all the coins as singles? Or again: You did order the sub, knowing that the mintage is 1500, but you will have one of the "rare 350 boxes".... Or someone planned to re-sell the boxes by cancelling the sub?

Same discussion we had with the Great Lakes ..... RCM = great transparency. Regarding the ducks box set, we trusted RCM just because of the duck callers limit quantity.

I'd say misinforming the reps seems rather deliberate. I won't cancel my sub but I'll be chewing out my rep if this is positioned as an honest mistake - I ain't buying it. Oh wait, I guess I am.

Watching Steve Bromberg on the coin show stated the coins were his idea and his store got a large amount. He stated they sold out in 3 mins and that no singles will be sold. He implies that these will be all in sets. I suppose individual dealers will decide whether to sell as set or not. This raises lots of questions on this set!!

Singles are sold at other RCM dealers, ie. CP. even CCC was selling them earlier as a single coin, which proves the MC offer of the 350 subs as an unique only 350 set offer. How can the RCM not know CCC is creating their own sets with an RCM logo box? CCC can market their own 3rd party case on any item and add any bonus great for buyers but the orginal offer by the RCM's reps were false advertisement.

The way the set was presented on thecoinshow, I think CCC has something to do with the production of these, and they were the ones who made the coins sold out buy buying them all. As for the box, if you look at other cases on TSC they are non-logo mahagony finish cases, not RCM logo, I dont think CCC can use the RCM logo without their permission, and exact same case as well. If the RCM honestly wanted to limit it to 350, then they would not let more of the exact same case be produced. This is simply a marketing plan and I do not think this set will appreciate in the future, I can already buy the loonie on TSC with my coupon, comes out to $425 shipped

I just checked the Coin Show and the case Steve was displaying had the RCM logo on it and also the picture on the CCC website had the RCM logo on the case. When I eventually get the case from CCC I'd be very disappointed if it wasn't the original case from RCM with the logo's. But who knows....you may be right R4mn33k and the CCC cases may be an aftermarket thing with no RCM logo's.

Quote: commems observed on page 1 of this thread: I think these pieces have "crossed the line" so to speak and should really be considered medals rather than coins.
The "denominations" on them are truly symbolic as they are all the same size/weight/composition regardless of their indicated denomination. Even for NCLT, I believe these pieces have pushed beyond reasonable specifications.
They're being called "coins" to make them easier to sell -- many collectors look down on medals as lesser collectibles -- but it seems a bit silly to me to consider them as such.
It's nice to see folks excited about them and wanting to make them the "centerpiece" of their collection - I think that's great. If I lived in Canada, I might consider adding them to my collection. If I did, however, I know I would consider them medals rather than coins.
Just me, your mileage may vary. I initially held back commenting of commem's observations because there was so much enthusiasm for these "coins" However, given the dark cloud that has moved in with regard to the boxes, I don't think sharing my opinion will upset anyone anymore. I agree with commems that the coins in this this set are not really coins in the true sense of the word. They are over-sized replicas of Canada's current circulation coin designs. However, I find them quite unappealing, as instead of being in the proper real circulation coin proportions, all of the designs are the same size. As a result the set just doesn't look right to me (and my wife). Also, given the ludicrous way the mint promoted the subscription with a definite statement that there would only be 350 sets worldwide, and the latest revelation that other dealers are offering hundreds's more boxed sets (some offering $100 bonuses), I am completely turned off. Taking into consideration the huge price tag ($3,300) and all of the above, I'm very glad I decided to pass on these.

These coins are a 5 oz. hockey puck, just like the US 5oz. ATB coins or other 5 oz. versions of circulating coins, just have issue with the RCM's marketing. When you commission a coin, you pay for upfront production costs ie. dies, designers, and you are allowed to purchase half of the mintage.

Received an answer to my questions from both CCC and RCM. CCC says they have 110 of the 350 RCM cases. CCC also says I am not the only one raising this issue and they are asking RCM for clarification. RCM rep says there are only 350 RCM branded cases. I guess anything else presented by other dealers or individuals is simply a non branded wooden case or a trademark violation if they try to clone a case with the logo.
