happyprince Valued Member United Kingdom 67 Posts	Posted 08/25/2007 1:13 pm can anyone guide me about this gold roman coin?it has some imperfectrions on the surface.I tested it and it says it is gold.But some areas on it looks like copper.However the testing revealed it is gold.I could not find this coin among any other Vitellius coins.does anyone know about this coin and its value?thnx... Besides the impossible reverse for a seventh consulship, the style is not right at all. The engravers for the gold coins were the best and their work reflected that, while this coin looks clumsy. The obverse inscription looks right A VITELLIUS GERM IMP TRP. However I have not be able to locate the reverse design. Report this Post to the Staff

And you will not find this reverse with COS VII for Vitellius. As I said in my previous post, a coin celebrating the seventh consulship is an impossible issue for an emperor that did not even rule a year!
