Been looking at APMEX and noticed (for example) that their 2014 ASE's are 20.21 for 20-99 while JM Bullion is at 19.49 for the same quantity.

JM's shipping is free.
APMEX shipping is 9.95.

JM Bullion seems cheaper...so just looking for opinions on it vs APMEX. Namely, is JM Bullion (which I read is a newer company formed in 2011) reputable and are the coins received of as high a caliber as those sold by APMEX (i.e., not scratched, damaged, etc)?

And has anyone ordered via check before? (The prices above are check/bank wire prices) and if so, how well did it go? I'd assume USPS Priority with tracking would be beneficial.

I have had better luck with JM Bullion than APMEX.

Like both though.

I have ordered from both before (Silver Eagles).

I was a little surprised that JM did not require signature (there was a roll of 20 left in my mailbox), whereas APMEX I didn't catch the mail carrier, so had to go pick it up and sign for it. Shipping time may have been slightly faster with JM. Both products were in great shape.

One thing to note is that JM has a $100 order minimum.

Also APMEX has a wider selection. Generally JM is cheaper for the basic stuff.

You may want to look at ModernCoinMart (MCM) as well. I just did a comparison and it appears they are cheaper than both APMEX and JMB:

They offer a great selection of coins and bars, both bullion and numismatic, free domestic shipping (no minimum order), accepts PayPal, ships globally (including Canada). Been around since 2004, but owners in industry since the 70's. Compare BBB ratings, you'll be amazed.

I've only used JM Bullion so can't comment on APMEX but my order went without any problems, shipping was also fast. I do believe there is $100 minimum order.

@Bryan78:

All you have to do is add a single coin to your cart and go to checkout. It tells you to add $100 or more to continue.

Buy from the lowest net cost which includes shipping. I've noticed that JM is usually cheaper than APMEX on current silver coins and also is free shipping.
APMEX offers most wide variety of coins issued in past years as well as latest ones. But they usually cost a lot. Also, their shipping boxes are packed solid compared to JM.

Another thing I've noticed is that if you are buying small lots or individual coins from AMPEX, often their ebay sales can be a better deal. They include shipping and the paypal fee on ebay.

Does JM not pack too well at all? Or well enough, but not to the level that they could pack?

I think it's about 1-3 ASE's and it's cheaper to use ebay than to pay $9.95 shipping. But anything more and it's cheaper to use APMEX's site. I do find the 3/4 ounce Wolf interesting from APMEX, so if I order from them it's easy, if I order from JM then it's cheaper to ebay the 3/4 ouncer.

Interesting...can't find any information about shipping costs or how to sell to them. But, I do notice all ASE's seem to be random dates from them...JM and APMEX have specific year choices. (I'm fairly certain JM doesn't buy from us, but APMEX does and that info is easy to find) So, if anyone knows where on their site such info is, that'd be great.

Just wanting to know options and try to get the best deal...

I recently tried http://www.silver.com (which is a subsidiary of JM Bullion)to order some silver Philharmonics. I had a very positive experience with this seller and I will buy from them again. The shipping was $5.95 for 7 silver coins. I ordered them on a Saturday and the coins were delivered by the following Wednesday.

My last Provident Metals order took 2.5 weeks to arrive.
