Wornslick Pillar of the Community United States 1304 Posts	Posted 12/03/2014 8:57 pm Getting ready to purchase this coin but was wondering if you agree with the grade that I believe it is, I am still learning how to grade though so I could be wrong. http://www.ebay.com/itm/141493164601 I believe that it is between a VF-30 and a VF-35, do you agree? Wornslick Pillar of the Community United States 1304 Posts	Posted 12/03/2014 9:47 pm Thanks, I was using the PCGS Photograde to help me determine what grade I thought it is. I went back and looked again and the area where the robe drapes across her stomach looks like a VF-30 but the shield looks more like VF-25. This is where I have a little trouble grading, I think the coin is one grade higher than it really is, the price seems a little high for a VF-20 to Vf-25 but not to much. SsuperDdave Moderator United States 23522 Posts	Posted 12/04/2014 10:11 am SLQ's are actually pretty easy to grade. The vertical band of Liberty's body is the highest area of the obverse, and along with the shield/breast area wears at a predictable rate. Same goes for the wings, eagle's left (viewer's right) first and the other wearing so much later (as evidenced by this coin) that a grading progression is easy. At a glance: vertical band from 12 to 6 obverse, and the wings. That's all you need. Report this Post to the Staff
