It doesn't look Byzantine either. I really have no idea.

Contemporary with later Byzantine/Crusader coinage.

Okay, one more hint: the realm was a neighbour of the Byzantine Empire, some Crusader States and Muslim realms.

Here's what I see. Clearly the person at right has a cat's head: And, just as obviously, the person at left has no head, but does have lobster hands: Or, maybe, I just need my morning coffee...

Yes, you need your morning coffee - the figure on the right is the ruler pictured. This is quite a well struck example of the coin, even though the head of the figure on the left is weakly struck. Because the part with the ruler alone would not give enough of a clue I showed a larger cut out, quite a well known coin.

Since no-one is prepared to make an effort and I am going to bed, here is the coin: AR Coronation Tram of Levon I, King of Cilician Armenia Obverse: "+ Levon King of Armenians" around Mary on left in orans position, Levon kneeling before her, wearing crown and mantle. Manus Dei extends down between them. Reverse: ""+ By the will of God" around two lions regardant, between them long cross with two bars. The coin was minted for the occasion of Levon's coronation in 1196 (or 1198 by other sources). Good night.
