Hi sorry for my intrusion but I'd like to ask a question to Augustus Maximus about his gold tremissis.
I know Baldwin's,is a great numismatic but in my opinion the coin is a gold barbaric tremissis(I think something like Athalaricus)in name of Justinianus, the name is clearly visible on the obverse and the style is barbaric specially on Justinianus clothes and on the reverse!
Sorry again but I repeat in my opinion is a barbaric gold tremissis Athalaricus in name of Justinianus minted in Rome:-)

From my limited knowledge of Byzantine coins I would agree with Baldwinds. Coins of this time are very crude compared to principate issues , but I will ask others about this coin . You have me curious now.

I disagree with Giano. I see nothing that deviates from regular Byzantine issues on this tremissis. The styles of the clothes and the face are nothing out of the ordinary and are in line with other Byzantine tremisses. The reverse as well. The coin may just look even more cruder because of the wavy flan and flattening on parts of the devices.

Here's my own Anastasius tremmissis as a comparison:

And an actual tremissis from Rome:
