SuperDave ... I apologize in advance for not having a picture available (the camera is ordered), but with all your attention to long nocks lately I did some checking on my Morgans and lo' and behold there is this sweet 1878 7TF with a long nock. I put it under 10x to have a closer look and noticed the detached olive branch. Flipped it over and saw "stunning" doubling in Liberty. I plan to pull out the VAM guide to find all the varieties and attribute it. My point here is that only through your contribution here did I bother to check this out. Let this serve as a lesson to us all ... no matter how miniscule or obscure, keep sharing with the family. Thanks SuperDave!

SeatedNut here is all the B1 reverse Morgans in my gallery, if it has the disconnected leaf you can rule out VAM-83 and VAM-84 because they don't have that feature, so its either a VAM-70 (look at "RIB" it will be doubled it is a TOP 100 coin), VAM-79 (HOT50 coin),VAM-80, VAM-81 or a VAM-82 (if it has a full nose it is a VAM-82, if the nostril is broken it can not be a VAM-82). Here is the link to all the attributes of all the B1 Reverse Morgans in my Gallery http://www.coincommunity.org/galler...hp?album=154

Bryan,

I don't know how you and SuperDave do it. I looked at the pictures in your gallery (nice shots by the way) and compared them to the coin in hand. It has the following diagnostics: Broken leaf (very clear and distinct); Doulbled Libery shifted left (again very clear and pronounced); the nostril is about half way between your pictures of a broken and complete nostril; there is slight doubling on the stars (most pronounced on #4 and #13); the polished right wing; the die chip on the left wing; and the polished ear. What it doesn't exhibit: Doubled "RIB"; clash on top of left wreath.

Now I'm really confused. It does have the exact die break seen in your picture "VAM82-stars".

I thank you for your help. This has been fun and mystifying. The only way to do this right is to post pictures. I should have a decent camera within a week, so stay tuned.
