Interesting ideas members have so far.
I started thinking about this because of the falling prices of gold and silver.
At right around 50 Dansco albums, I really don't want to start more, but I am pretty sure if one catches my eye .. I will not resist.
I think my main goals for 2015 will be to upgrade some of my current sets. With 7070 and Morgan's being the most important.
Because of the falling prices I am going to order some roll boxes. I want to do a box of silver Half dollars ($250 face) Quarters ($100 face) Dimes ($100 face) I have a nice box of roosevelts, would like a box merc's I like picking through the junk silver boxes and picking out the better grade stuff.
Also want continue buying Morgan/Peace dollar, would like a box of those (500) but I don't keep them in a box.
Lastly I want to continue to purchase more silver Eagles, so I can have a monster box of those.
Not sure if I can do that in one year .... Just have to try.

I'm mixing goals this year. My weight has started impacting my health and so I'm going to use coins as a reward for working on my fitness. If I meet my diet/exercise goals for the month, I get to buy coins. If I do not, then no coins for me.
I'm kind of a fickle collector right now, but I intend to keep collecting larger Mexican silver coins and Canada silver dollars for the short term. I still have a long term goal of collecting 100 years (one per year) of various U.S. half dollars including a mix of commemoratives to keep it interesting.

SELLING: I'm getting rid of my raw coins. That's easier said than done; got to catch it correctly when a particular issue is hot. I tried it with my Buffaloes with only marginal success. I think I'll try Lincoln Wheaties. They tend always to be of interest. BUYING: I want to complete my FE's and IHC's. The IHC's are all MS-63 or better and I'm only missing two of the common ones (the error ones are not counted). I'm only missing one FE (guess which one ) And since I don't collect proofs that narrows down the 1856 to only one die pair. If you have Snow's guide look at the S-3; that's the only one considered to be a business strike. My dealer knows of one in AU-53. THAT'S the one I'm after.

Adding to my 2015 goals
Going this morning to order my first box of Half Dollars.
And,
Going to try to (somehow) get bags of IKEs directly from (CI) businesses. After all, they are in business to make money. I'd gladly pay a fee, to be able to order Ikes in unlimited quantities.

RedRaider...you and me have the same goals!! I'm also putting a MS Indian set together. I'm trying for 1885 through 1895 MS64 RB at least. All PCGS, or cherrypick some raw ones to send in.
Hope you find yours! 65 is lofty for me...we will have to see how it turns out for us! Good luck to all!

Some of these are awesome! I see many people with the 7070 type album.
After getting back into collecting and wasting a lot of money on quantity silver etc just to get the feels again. After realizing that I got the itch again. I decided to do quality over stacking.
1. Add as many Full Band mercs as I can to my dansco. Need 34d,35d,39s,45p and overs for the 2nd page and only have 5 from 1916-31.
2.Buy as many MS coins as I can for my 7070.
3. Keep buying as many Red Wheaties for my album.
4. Want to accuire more pre-1933 gold. 5.Have yet to own a slab worth keeping.Maybe try to get a nice slab

I'd like to complete my 1949 Mint Set on the PCGS Registry. That will take some doing and some serious bucks. Stay tuned! Best Regards, George

After taking a long break from numismatics, my main goal is to get reacquainted with my collection and with the good people at CCF. After that: 1. Organize my collection 2. Finish off some of my small sets that are oh-so-close 3. Create a "starter kit" for my 2.5 year old nephew

I have a few goals on my list for 2015:
1) Locate and purchase a nice, original 1807 Draped Bust HE in AU 2) Add one or two more nice, original Capped Bust Left HEs in AU 3) Add a few, specific nice, original Charloote HEs in AU or MS

One thing I forgot to add...I've recently taken an interest in pre-decimal British coinage, with a focus on that of Elizabeth II. I have a few examples, including a 1927 George V silver 6d, a 1965 Crown, and a holed 1962 penny that lives on my keychain. The silver 6d was in a box of foreign coins my grandfather brought back with him from WWII. I believe there are other British coins in there as well; I'll have to check. I'd like to casually add some to the collection.

I just made my first purchase of a Proof Barber half and I am going to work on a set of one proof half from each year minted. I won't get it completed this year but I am off to a good start.

My goals are a bit different for 2015. I have fairly extensive collections of this and that and want to liquidate most of those in favor of high end slabbed Morgans (65 or higher). I have built many of my sets to acquire knowledge on particular coin types; and, once the set is complete, I tend to move on to something else. The Morgans are my true love it seems and I want to concentrate on them. High end ones will always retain their value, especially 66 or higher. PG

paloguy45 Quote: High end ones will always retain their value, especially 66 or higher. PG No insult intended. Always can be a long time. Some times it is a shorter time. My Father and I were once reminiscing over a picture, and story, of a very well dressed man, offing to sell his (about) new (high dollar) car. It was a real looker. He was dressed to the nines, and only wanted approximately the same amount he paid for his hat, shoes (with spats) and suit. Cash was KING. And it stayed that way for a few years. For the record, I am a bottem feeder. When I could get 'em, I was beyond happy searching $1,000 BAGs acquired at FACE. I have never lost a cent on any of my MIGHTY IKEs. And I never will. Bottom feeders can't-don't-won't loose.
