Quote: I may regret this but I'm going to wait for the farewell to the Nickel set. May have to wait a while...or not..but I think they would need a year or so in advance like the penny ,so your going to wait a min of a year if they for instant come out and say tomorrow that the nickel is done. So could be a few years if ever that they decide to get rid of the nickel , could be dead by then lol ,if I was a Nickel lover I would think very seriously about getting this set, heck I don't even collect nickels and I want to get this set.

Remember to discontinue the Nickel they would have to pass a bill in the legislature, this would take years, they had been talking about removing the penny for almost 2 decades before it actually happened.

People starting to get excited with this sub. The "Ducks" set (subscription) was sold out very quickly, and only Gatewest had them available for full price of subscription. Now, it all depends, if RCM issued individual coins. If no - the set will be quickly sold out (it doesn't mean will go in price). If also individual coins will be distributed - all uncertain and it gives to the collector creativity to have his own subset. Btw - the COAs individual, 99% probability that individual coins will be there. The best speculation topic here - what is the "mintage of the sets" or it 8.500 sets + 8.500 coins?

Thanks Jackalope: Yes, Lake Huron coin does include Georgian bay and as well the North Channel with Manitoulin Island clearly shown - There are many great spots to fish on the north channel - some great sport fishing as shown in the new fish series. l very much like the very accurate detail for this Huron coin and all the Great Lakes coins but this especially as Lake Huron is geographically very diverse... This was a Great series !!

Does anyone know the number of subscription vs single coins for the nickel set? With most if not all subscriptions there are opportunities to buy coins as singles. Even the 5 oz big coins had singles available.
Since only subscriptions have boxes, there may be a market for the boxes alone, as we saw with the duck coins, the lunar coins, and even the group of seven set. And since you can cancel at any time, some people will just cancel after the second coin and sell the boxes for big money.

The rumours say the box is coming with the last coin.

Quote: The rumours say the box is coming with the last coin. Per the Mint catalogue, the fish series box comes with the last coin; the nickel series box comes with the 2nd coin - that should make the flippers happy, at least until the Mint inevitably delays the box in a month or two. https://goccf.com/t/195253&whichpage=8#1824380

I'd take what the Mint says in their published materials with a grain of salt these days. There are just way too many inaccuracies and broken promises: - Go7 sub box release date, - O Canada sub box release date, - number of sub available for big coin series, - Canoe sub display case release date... the list just go on and on and on. Oh.. and people should be able to buy the individual Nickel and Fishing coins from Canada Post, that's why they are in the CP catalogue.

Silveroid That release is Star Trek not Star Wars, this Captain Kirk and Enterprise is being touted to be a popular set, will they have Picard, Janeway, Sisko, Pike etc. Big thing is - Shatner is Canadian and gets his own coin! Great link thanks; Going where no mint has gone before, the Perth Mint has created a truly mind-blowing presentation case for this set " designed to look like a Star Trek Transporter! The Captain Kirk Silver Proof sits inside the case, and when the ‘door' is opened, a light is turned on " making it look like the Captain is teleporting! Set in its own compartment, complete with its own light, the USS Enterprise Silver Proof sits atop this sensational presentation case.
Cheesy. The Trekkies will love it.

I know, SilverDon But since my preference is Star Wars, and I did like, how the "Enterprise" struck, so that's way I would like to see the Star wars vessels. Btw, even for Star Trek they should do the series...."The Cube" of the Cyborgs was impressive
