Ohh I like Star Trek ...coins look nice but Star Wars was a big flop with coins so time will tell I guess. Ya so I guess all mints do the same thing... The single coin is " limited edition has been restricted to a tiny 5,000!" Then we have the set of 2 ..."the limited edition has been restricted to a mere 1,500! With our allocation strictly limited, we highly recommend a swift order." So is the mintage of each coin 6500? Or is the 1500 part of the 5000... Blah marketing , why cant they ever give a straight answer ... Either way I might have to bite the bullet and get one of the "1500" sets

Like SilverDon told - for sure that the cheesy case they manufactured only 1500. Mintage of coins I believe 6.500

Thanks to reports from other site: The "Goddesses" coin became unavailable for original, and sells now for $60 above the issue! Unbeatable success for PM

> Captain Kirk and Enterprise is being touted to be a popular set
Wow, that is the lamest thing I've ever seen. And I am/was a long time Trekker. Print 50 year old photos on a coin, and put them in a toy.
A great NCLT theme needs to compliment the medium. The collector needs to appreciate the artistry and skill of the engravers.

Yes like the Disney set.
Many types of collectors out there, some just for the theme, giftware, etc, serious collectors as well. If it sells they will continue to make it. It is cheesy but hey it's Shatner!

Was happy to order the 2015 Maple Leaf coin, lower mintage at 25,000, following Silveroid's advice (won't get a better deal than free delivery) and picked up the 1/2 ounce Welcome to the World (nervous about a sellout on this one - incused). Looked at the other offerings but nothing turned my crank - will look for the 1967 Nickel later as an individual. Lots of nice bullion coins out recently, the last of the Bird Wildlife Series - 2015 1 ounce Red Tailed Hawk (to go with the Peregrine Falcon and The Bald Eagle), and 1 ounce Year of the Sheep Privy SML. Nice additions.
I get your drift dialog_gvf, I am a fan as well, and wouldn't go near it but it is cheesy fun, with the transporter and all it looks like an action figure toy set up that I used to buy for my son. Not everyone's cup of tea but the thing will sell because of the number of people interested in the theme.
PS Good to have you back after that hiatus Friday night CCF - was missing the forum.

Congrats , SilverDon for the order.
Looks like downhill for famous "Gods" coins continues. While people still have sets and "Hades" unsold, the Talisman raised an alarm for "Hera": initially marked it as $500+, sold for $229 (you know their discounts)with limit of 3 per customer. So...people just moved to something new.
From other hand, PM conquered hearts of people with plastic toy (from Toys'R'Us), while putting there relatively nice 2 coins. And seems it goes well. But also similar sets projected in the future with other Captain/Ship coins.

Still better than the garbage the RCM keeps pumping out.Gods coin sold out very fast must still be popular and your looking at talisman as an example that's pretty funny in itself at least perth is trying to be innovative nowadays. RCM not so much

RCM not so much See, I just trying to see that all innovative comes to it's end. Who from them issuing "junk" - I think, both of them. Of cause not all the coins. As seller - I do not think that you should be worry, but buyers, you know, like the kids: or they think that this is "the real thing" and then disappointing, or buying for one or two "wow", leaving it later to be covered by dust. And traditional stuff (Proof Kook or Nickel Tribute as example) - will not be hits, but will be valued.

What is the monetary system aboard the USS Enterprise and the Federation?
At best, the coin is something of an ironic tribute. But, mostly it comes across, to me, as a pure money grab.
While we're at it, how about coins for the Great Depression or the Great Recession?

I think in the 23rd century, man has no need for money, replicators and all. So definitely some irony out there, in this coin set. Will there be Picard and Holodeck, Borg and CUBE. Cheezy, but Superman sets every year, plenty of this cheeze to go around among mints, some good quality nclt out there just have to pay. My suggestion is to wait and pick it up at a discount, even low mintage Go7 was a dud.

Quote: My suggestion is to wait and pick it up at a discount Good advice, will agree. In addition, you'll understand, that half of the items, that you decided to wait with them - no needed at all.

Its not a matter of low mintage but subject matter. Most people don't have a clue who the Group of Seven were. But Star Trek, Star Wars, Superman, Spiderman, James Bond are part of mass pop culture. Hundreds of Millions of people worldwide heard of Star Trek, Star wars, Superman, etc but the Go7? A lot of people in the US can't even name the PM of Canada.

Perhaps Go7 art aficionados are not coin buyers but have numbers. Agree pop culture sells, Disney, Harry Potter, Star Trek. But is it numismatics, with pad printed Kirk in a spinning transporter. Giftware. Baseball series, a pop culture favorite was an unusual dud, sorry Northern. Some go big, others fail. The mints will try anything, 911 Memorials, for cash. Old and new PMs would not be big sellers, Harper included. Get the series and store them all in a big trough, or pork barrel presentation case.
