Do we really need more non-canadian novelty coin from the RCM...we don't...that kind of niche is best left to the Perth and private owned new Zealand mints...I rather have the RCM stick to canadian themes which they do very well with... The "garbage" as Elkslayer likes to label...is far more to my liking than God coins, tv series themes...etc...from downunder..

If I order the Tribute to the Nickel sub...will I get the clamshell cases with each coin?
Not worth it if it doesn't come with OGP...

Further I would argue that the RCM has and does maintain a level of integrity by sticking to Canadiana themes be it artist, cartoons, PMs,animals, sportfish, dinosaurs or bugs...something the Perth Mint has sold out on... That integrity does count for something...in numismatic nclt circles...(you who are dealers will undoubtedly disagree...)

The term Garbage is subjective , Some people think real Garbage made into artwork is valuable , Some think that type of artwork is "Garbage" The RCM makes some nice stuff but they are stuck in the past somewhat , If the RCM made a line of coins such as the Gods coins or Star Trek etc . it wouldn't be a bad thing imo. I think they need to diversify a bit, they can still make their normal Canadian themed coins but add Lower Mintage other themed coins to their line up. Superman Gold was a decent low mintage coin, they need more of those even if its not Canadian themed. I still say their Mintages are too high on most of the stuff they produce, I prefer to own one out of 1500 /2000 at a reasonable price thats affordable then 1 out 7500 for around the same price.

Not worth it if it doesn't come with OGP... Really? The clam shells are what will make or break this set for you? I mean no disrespect, we all need to make our own collecting decisions. I'm just finding it difficult to understand why a few clam shell cases can have such a dramatic effect. The set comes with a wooden box for all of the coins. Isn't that more important for a subscription?

I'm just guessing here, but without the clamshell cases, he can't re-sell the coins individually. (at least not as easily)

For 99% will not come in the individual cases, since the sub has wooden case. Might be, only coins that will be delivered prior the case. I think, whoever can afford all the set, and like the theme - go for it. This exactly what we didn't get in the past - affordable coin, reproduces old circulation design. So the RCM started with Penny set and 1/2oz Penny, now it Nickel 1oz coins.

Never thought clamshells such a hot accessory - or did Dcadon nail it... I believe the Feb releases are very soon to be officially released to all who care to browse - more opinions from all is most welcomed...
There has been no cooling off period for moi...for the nickels and fish...

RCM and Gatewest only, no other dealers updated websites. The Coin Shoppe has some artistic colorized maples and ASE. Quote: If you want a single gold plated nickel coin, Gatewest have them as singles. Do not think, that it will be available for long. The description is very good.
