Quote: It looks like the coins fit in the display canoe without being encased in airtites. If this is the case then its a big fail already in my view , maybe others wont care but I was sort of interested since they are now "proof" but without air tights I don't want them. I cant believe they would do something so lame if this is indeed the case.

I was planning on subscribing but if that's the case, I'm out. Hopefully someone could clarify this

Guys, do not be confused: In most of the cases the rendered pictures show the coins without capsules. But in reality - they will be encapsulated. Only one series I remember for modern NCLT without capsule - Perth Mint's "Ancient Gods". They had to do something fancy. Added: to be "covered" call the Mint, hope you'll speak with knowledgeable rep.

They just changed the description. "A FIRST! A FREE red canoe-shaped box ships in December." Still no official mention of the mintage - reported to be 20k sets. Pathetic IMO.

Just looking through past photos of subscriptions on Mint website and most look like Silveroid has noted that they don't appear to be in airtites. O'Canada, Explorer. Must be either a prototype case or photoshop coins in a bigger than real life diameter in the case. O Canada series is a 38 mm hole for a 34 mm coin (1/2 oz) with 4 mm additional for airtite. Hoping this is the case here as well.
Artists rendering has the coin looking like it is larger than it is. Likely difficult to produce a rendering with the coin in an airtite, glare / clear coin depiction. So I see why they do this, for presentation purposes.

Quote: They just changed the description. They need to make another change "encapsulated" one simple word , you would think they would know how to write their own adds by now or maybe they farm that out to the lowest bidder...who knows.

Nice and creative canoe box! However, it seems to be still "cheap"... I don't know, it's what I feel.

Given a couple of experiences this past year that were not terrible but unexpected (packaging changes, coins not as shown), I'm going to have to pass on this one. Idea resin box and coins are very nice and should get a few collectors excited. Really don't like the fact that you have all the coins (presumably in capsules)at an already higher yet still reasonable price but have to wait five months for the display case. The email stated the box is sent with the last coin in July and the website says December.

I assume they are curbing the behavior of too many people getting the case and then canceling their subscriptions in past years.

But, in order to do it really proper , they should send each coin in individual package (case), and with the last coin - the box.

Canoe ships in DECEMBER?
All the lakes, rivers and streams will be frozen over. We'll have to wait until Spring 2016 to peddle our coins.
The mint must already be anticipating a delay with these made in China plastic canoes.
Now cannu canoe?

As Pierre Berton said, "A Canadian is someone who knows how to make love in a canoe without tipping it." Perhaps that is the inspiration for the design of coin #6, "Exquisite Ending"! Distinctly Canadian and another coin "FIRST!"
