Quote: I am told that the mintage is 20,000 and the canoe display is made of resin. Correct. If the mintage was in the 10k range, I'd consider this set but at 20k, and the increased price, it's a pass. The coins look interesting but I'm not really that into canoeing and don't see the appeal. Seems to me that 'canoeing' is kind of random. I mean what if this was a series on skateboarding? Or wind sailing? Then again, maybe they are commissioned by Mountain Equipment Co-op or Coleman canoes.

Or, possibly, because it's "kind of random", the number of collectors/canoers will be low, and thus, it never sells out - and becomes a complete dud..... until it's realized that they only made 5,000 canoes (as an example because that's as many subscriptions they received) and thus becomes a bit of a rarity. We shall see.
I ordered one... because I like coins ...and canoeing.

We need to understand, that 20.000 will be total mintage, while the amount of the sets with the exclusive display case in the Canoe shape will be much less. In addition, RCM priced "O Canada" coins CAD 39.95, due to the matte-proof finish, and these coins looks like traditional proof, so cost more. With the increase in the "cost of living" we can not expect RCM drop the prices for their highly collectible production. As mentioned on the other forum - for $9.99 possible to buy pack of baseball cards, but not 1/2oz silver collector coin (although 1/2oz silver costs something near it).

Quote: What cost of living must be nice to get one. Looks like misunderstanding. What I mean - everything got to be more expensive. More expensive to live. Except the gas and silver - recently. So, how we can expect that the coin prices will be reduced? Added: where did that post disappear to?

FW $250. They go crazy with the amount and prices. This is what I say to my self, despite need to select and buy something unique and special, or save and not to buy at all.

Mintage? Does it really matter when you consider to buy a cougar coin for $2.3K?

Quote: Ops. I meant FV, not FW. Its ok, was more or less clear, since do not recall coin, priced CAD250. So according to the other forum, it is 1kg silver, style "Snowy Owl". Looks like after RCM release, collectors in North America even will not look at Perth release with their "Gods", "Disneys" and "Star Treks" thematic....probably limited edition 2.500 of privy proof (?) Kookaburra.

Okay folks, the 1/2 oz. Fine Silver 6-Coin Subscriptionâ€"Canoe Across Canada (2015) is now available to all on the mint's website. There is no mention of mintage or the canoe material. Also there is a discrepancy between the rep's email and the web page with regard to the shipping of the box. The email ad states that the 1st coin will ship starting February 2. The other five will ship at the beginning of each of the next five months, and the "... box is shipped with the last coin..." (in July). However, the web page states "...A FREE red canoe-shaped box is shipped before the end of the year (2015)..."I guess they are just covering their behinds in case of box delays. I'm sure this set will appeal to many, but I'm going to pass on it.

It looks like the coins fit in the display canoe without being encased in airtites.
What the heck, do you have to remove them from the capsule to display in the canoe?
Did they make the diameter of the hole too small?
I really like the images, kind of a neat display, it may be different enough and 6 x $45 = $270, not a huge expense spread over 6 months, this one may go. Affordable, relatively lower mintage than O Canada series, nice images that are patriotic and appeal to the outdoor enthusiast. It has an appeal. Would make a nice desk/coffee table set.
