Quote: I am really on the fence, I LOVE the KGV effigy's and would love to have the nickel, but 2 things are holding me back. I told myself I had to stop buying NCLT, the bottom drops out more times than not. (I hate losing money) I would have preferred to see them do a set like the penny, I get making them larger so that you can see the design better, but the cost is so much higher. If they thought that making them the correct size (the first coin smaller than a dime) would be too small, then they could have made the first coin the same size as the rest.
Maybe I will allow myself one treat this year?
The Case is to be shipped with the 2nd coin, and looks like the original O Canada box (wooden) This is exactly what I thought for myself. I have plans for one nice Nickel. Yeah, 6 are better, but not sure that I need them. $660 just for this subscription....too much, I still on the fence. Do not like much "Maple Leaf" , "Sudburry" and "1967" designs.... I planned for another treat (have to spend some $$$ for car upgrade). Will try to get the singles: #1, Victory and The Beaver

I'd personally wait for the nickel to be discontinued or if it represents the actual size to go well with the Penny Set - that would look amazing in the collection otherwise - it would feel out of place for me personally otherwise I was tempted to hop in on it too.

I was on the fence on this one as well, but the CAN/US $ exchange rate swayed my decision to get it.
I have the silver "Farewell to the Penny" set and although, in many ways, it isn't comparable to this set, I like the overall concept of the different designs and effigies in a single denominational set.
I hope the gold gilding is consistent across the subscription.

Quote: Fish are 4 coins @ $400 and mintage of 6500 @ CC- Ottawa - I just notcied this.... "The North American Sport Fish series will also include two premium versions of fish species: one gold and one platinum coin." I don't know if that means all 4 coins in the series will be made in silver, gold and platinum, or there will be two new designs to be announced. It would be a little disappointing to see a musky on 1/10 gold or platimum, it deserves better

Interesting. The e-mail I have doesn't mention gold or platinum versions.
It does say "1 oz. Fine Silver 4-Coin Subscription North American Sportfish"
and "$99.95 per coin. First in the new North American Sportfish Series â€" 4 silver coins launching between February and May 2015.
Largemouth bass â€" Ships February 2015 Northern Pike â€" Ships March 2015 Walleye â€" Ships April 2015 Rainbow Trout â€" Ships May 2015"

The "Fish" set will be 4 coin set, similar to other "animals" set, just nice upgrade in the case. The Platinum / Gold version - nothing stops RCM to reuse the design for other coins, so they will be like "stand-alone" and probably not part of the Feb release.

I hope you're right Silveroid, I'd like to see the 4 silver coins in a case of their own. This series has got me excited enough to post some pics in the "Picture the Poster" thread...I might have to add a musky for CC-Ottawa https://goccf.com/t/4344&whichpage=55

Bass, Pike, Walleye, and Trout. You must be in Northern ON. Nice fish fed_ink85. No salmon? Atlantic salmon anglers will be miffed.

@ SilverDon - I'm actually in Southern Ontario but I don't mind travelling for a good catch! We go downrigging for salmon in Lake Ontario but mostly for Pacific Salmon, the Atlantic Salmon stocking program has made some serious headway in the last few years but I haven't been lucky enough to catch one yet. Here's musky from last fall, the fish of a thousand casts, caught at sunset in a canoe...

Im certainly no fishing expert. Heck I don't eat it or catch em'. But that's a good looking fish right there!

Musky and pike must be related. Tough to pull one in from a canoe. Well done, did some bass and walleye fishing as well as King and Pink salmon up in Wawa.

That's a beauty.
BTW, for those curious about the boxes, the brochure which came in the mail today says the box comes with the second coin in the nickel series and with the fourth coin in the fish series. Also the box shown for the fish in the brochure is a much lighter colour that shown in the email today.

@ SilverDon - Wawa is on the bucketlist, I will make it there one day Quote: BTW, for those curious about the boxes, the brochure which came in the mail today says the box comes with the second coin in the nickel series and with the fourth coin in the fish series. Is it true the coloured Bighorn Sheep has a lower mintage than the others in the series? Like the majestic moose @ 7500

The booklet says 6500 for the Bighorn sheep but it is the first of the series. Sure does look a lot like the Majestic moose though.
Bighorn Sheep â€" Ships February 2015 Mule Deer â€" Ships May 2015 (Mintage: 8,500) Majestic Elk â€" Ships June 2015 Alpha Wolf â€" Ships July 2015 Snowy Owl â€" Ships October 2015
Dunno why the deer has a higher mintage.
