My fiancee came home with a 20 dollar note with the serial number 49666649 that is from 2013, is it considered a binary or trinary note and is it worth something other than face value. Didn't post the whole thing but showing the serial number.

It's not a binary as the serial number is made up of more than two numbers.

It's close to a radar (if the 4 and 9 closest to Jackson switched places)

Here are some fancy serial numbers to watch for http://oldcurrencyvalues.com/serial_numbers.html

I think it's a spender unless you can afford to keep it until you find a binary or radar or other "fancy" serial number.

Thank You MV! I am not going to spend it, going to hold onto it. My sister has a $10 note with a serial number 18154321. I thought it was pretty neat as well..
I just wonder if you could tell me, is there a difference between a Federal Reserve Note and Federal Reserve System?
I am new to this, but I just it was really different.

Thanks again

Welcome.

Unfortunately this note is a spender. Like MV noted above, if the 4 and 9 were switched you would have a nice radar note worth keeping. In regards to your other question the Federal Reserve System is the United States banking system in a nutshell. If you want in depth information, there are several websites that explain it better than I ever could. Federal Reserve Notes are the only money used by the US currently " for all debts, public and private". They are backed by the Federal Reserve Banks.
