MorganNoob, what part of the country is your box coming from. Hopefully, not the Dallas area, where silver has dried up.

yesterday I went to my dump bank to deposit my halves. I normally dont get boxes from my dump bank since they tend to just re-roll the thousands of dollars in coins I deposit and on other guy also does at the same branch. they had 2 500$ boxes which they had ordered for the other guy but he never picked up. So I took a shot. the first box was bad 4 40%'s I figured my hunch was right. the second box yielded 20 40% and 16 90% including a walker and franklin. They are still out there keep looking. 4 more boxes coming to Thursday from 2 banks I will tell you how I do. Last week I got 1 500$ box with 70 40%'s. I have had hit and miss some boxes with 1-4 some with none but these boxes make it worth it and keep me looking.

I picked my box up and took it home over my lunch hour. I opened it up, and there looking up at me was a '67 40%er, right on the end of the roll. I opened 10 rolls and found no other silver, but at least I know that I am not going to get skunked!

I haven't searched halves in a few months (too much of a hassel around here) but I sometimes ask if the tellers if they have any when I'm there just becasue I like to spend halves and SBA coins. Anyway, I asked my teller and she said that she didn't have any but she'd ask the other tellers...I almost told her to not even worry about it but held my tongue. SHe comes back with $11 worth which produce 7 40%ers! This is the biggest find I've eve had in such a small amount of loose coins. I think somebody dumped there collection as all 22 coins were 68d-72. Oh well! More silvers for me mwahahah

I worked $500 this evening and found 3 40%ers and another 74d DDO. This is my 5th DDO so far. I just wish they were worth something LOL

All right, I plan on doing a date by date tally, buy in the mean time I just burnd through my box, shuffling halves and listening for the beautiful sound of silver. Box total: 10-40% 2-90% (my girlfriend found them) I also found one 2002 NIFC, might be more as I didn't look too close.
Overall I am pretty happy with this fed box, though my teller might not be when I tell her to order me another one tomorrow! lol

I just did a $500 box yesterday, which was actually better than the box I pulled the Barber from a couple of weeks ago. I could tell by the "look" of the coins that they were from the same batch. Here's a breakdown of the box by date: 1935 - 1 1941 - 1 1942 - 2 1943 - 3 1943s- 1 1944d- 1 1944s- 1 1945 - 1 1952d- 1 1963d- 1 1964 - 1 1964d- 2 1965 - 1 1966 - 4 1967 - 17 1968d- 15 1969d- 4 1969s- 1 (proof; circulated enough that it will go with the "junk") 1970d- 0 1971 - 39 1971d- 100 1972 - 67 1972d- 32 1973 - 30 1973d- 28 1974 - 77 1974d- 15 (wish I had the luck finding DDO's that o-g has!!) 1976 - 118 1976d- 42 1977 - 18 1977d- 5 1978 - 3 1978d- 4 1979 - 15 1979d- 0 1980 - 12 1980d- 5 1981 - 6 1981d- 10 1982 - 10 1982d- 2 1983 - 12 1983d- 8 1984 - 18 1984d- 7 1985 - 6 1985d- 10 1986 - 2 1986d- 4 1987 - 0 1987d- 0 1987s- 1 (circulated proof) 1988 - 5 1988d- 2 1989 - 10 1989d- 4 1990 - 10 1990d- 9 1991 - 18 1991d- 1 1992 - 24 1992d- 3 1993 - 10 1993d- 5 1994 - 60 1994d- 7 1995 - 27 1995d- 12 1996 - 6 1996d- 6 1997 - 2 1997d- 3 1998 - 0 1998d- 0 1999 - 0 1999d- 2 2000 - 4 2000d- 0 2001 - 0 2001d- 1 ***NIFC's*** 2003 - 2 2003d- 1 2005 - 1 FOREIGN: 1992 Germany 5 Deutschmark 1 1975 Italy 100 Lira 1 That's it! I have another box from the same source to pick up today; I will keep track of the results and post them here. I ordered two more for next week, also.

She just wants to participate and be helpful.....and she is....but in the back of my mind, I wonder if she'd have missed some !....a date.... a mintmark...silver....I "have" to be the one to look through them and make the discovery !....Is that bad ? I'm going to milk this bank for all it's worth; I just wish I had better cash flow so I could search 'em all at the same time! Todays should be good, but the good stuff has to end at some point! But, I hope not!

Morgan, You might to keep your loan (but thanks anyway!) Today's box brought me back down to earth. Only one 90% (1964) and seven 40%. Still, I'm picking up two more boxes next week in the hope that this was just a fluke. Another thing about this box: most (but not all) of the 74d coins in the box had a black Sharpie circle on the front of them. Seems that not only was somebody searching rolls for silver, they were probably looking for 74d doubled dies too! And, I was really pressed for time when I looked through them, so I was unable to log all of the dates. But, there were none after 2000, and the only thing that I noticed somewhat unusual was probably over 100 Mint State 1994 coins. Must have been from a Fed box stashed somewhere in a vault. I'll check in next week with the results of those boxes; hopefully I'll have the time to break down the dates.

Ok, I have been planning on taking a complete, detailed tally of my box of halves. What technique do you guys use? The best that I can think of is printing out a list of dates and MM, and just making tally marks. Is this indeed the easiest way, or do you guys sort them then just count?
