One of the better boxes I have worked in several weeks. Out of $500 I found 3 40%ers, a 1961 Franklin and a 1977 Proof.
What's really funny is that today when I picked up this box I told the teller that unless I gave her a call this would be the last order for a while. I haven't had any luck searching from this bank. Another bank I use has been 1-2 40%ers per $1000 so I was considering taking a break.
I think I may give that teller a call and continue my standing order of 2 boxes per week LOL

I was in Kansas City this week on business and stopped by a Bank of America. They had fifty dollars in customer wrapped halves and were happy to get rid of them. I found 25 silver clad halves out this group.
Feeling lucky I stopped by another bank and got $200 more in customer wrapped halves. I found one "67" in that bunch, then in my last roll I found a 1936 Walker! It seems to me that the best rolls are the customer wrapped. Does anyone else have an opinion?

I just went to the bank and they had 8 rolls of halves. I took them and out of the 8 rolls I found one 1964 Kennedy. I was pretty happy with this as this is only the second time I got rolls before( I am new to this). However, this Monday I have a $500 bank box of halves coming so we will have to see. Outside of the halves that are pre 1969...what are the other halves that I should be saving?

I am new to collecting Kennedy halfs. I was searching 2 boxes for silver and silver clad and found 4 64's and 7 clads. I am wondering if there are any other years that I should be looking for? I have been reading through the posts, but I am confused at exactly what I should be looking for. Thank you for any help!

I just opened a $500.00 box and got absolutely nothing. Is this pretty normal or do you think I had bad luck?

Normal. I didnt get anything out of 4 boxes, finally my 5th landed me a %40. Needless to say, I got enough to fill up the common dates then quit, wasnt worth it to me :(

its fine renroy82. Just keep searching. I'm getting two boxes on thursday so hopefully I will get some goodies. The only way you will find stuff is by searching so dont give up on one lousy box.

Hi Renroy The approach you have to use to be successful is VOLUME. I open about 4 boxes per week. Some boxes have nothing in them. I've gotten over 8 boxes that were nothing but 1996p brand spanking new. I've opened boxes that were covered with grease and gunk and found nothing but very dirty hands. On the other hand, I've opened boxes and found anywhere from 1 to 4 40%ers, maybe a 90%er, and I've found a few Franklin halves. I've found Proof coins and I've found 2 Magician's coins. I've also found some 74d DDOs. The thing is you can't do just one box and hope you will find a bunch. Do 1 box a week for 8 weeks or 2 boxes a week for 4 weeks, just do what you can each week but don't stop. If you aren't having any luck try a different bank. Ask what armored service the bank you are buying from uses and then find a different bank that uses a different armored service. I buy 1 box, work it, dump what I don't keep, and recycle that money back into another box. I've only got $500 tied up (plus what I have pulled from circulation) Now, for my report. I just worked $500 and found 3 40%, a 2002p, a 2003p, and another 1974d DDO (YEAH!) This is the first in about a month but the 5th since I started working halves. I'll have a picture of it, along with some others that I have questions about, in the variety forum a little later.

Thanks everyone for the info and advice. I just went to the bank today and I ordered a couple more boxes of halves. They said they will be here on Friday. I was also wondering if someone could give me some advice on which dates I should save besides the obvious silver coins. Thanks everyone for you help!
