It's a part of a carol title in the 1964 classic Rankin-Bass Christmas special Rudolph,The Red-Nosed Reindeer special and its a lyric in Do You Hear What I Hear?, but silver came again courtesy of another after-work walk yesterday with two banks along the way. The first bank, $100 in CWR, yielded five 1964-D 90% silver halves, plus seven 40% silver halves as well. The second bank, also with $100 in CWR, yielded no silver but did contain nine early 21st century NIFCs. In addition, a few loose dollar coins gave me two NIFC's: a 2007-P Sacagawea, and a 2016-P Gerald Ford dollar. Like NorthShoreMA on a recent thread, it was in a major east coast city, but it was a bit odd to get all D's for the 1964's. May the Christmas silver bring you glad tidings of collector joy!

For five weeks in a row I described finding an unusually large number of 1964 Kennedy half dollars (relative to the more common coins that contain only 40% silver) in boxes of BWRs that I regularly acquire from the local branch of a regional bank. When I didn't find any silver coins in the three boxes I purchased last week, I concluded that I had depleted this very nice collection "dump". Happily, I was I wrong! I found an uncirculated Franklin "ender, an uncirculated 1964 Kennedy "ender", and two 40% silver "enders" in the second box that I acquired yesterday. Several of the rolls in this box each contained two silver coins. I found a nice Walking Liberty half dollar, 11 more 1964 Kennedy half dollars, and nine more coins that contain 40% silver in this box. I also found a 40% silver Kennedy half dollar in each of the other two boxes (which I consider to be background "noise'). Another nice haul of half dollars that contain 90% silver from this bank -- and another pizza lunch for the tellers, who now are interested in my weekly results!

Kennedy 40% Halves are now more than $9 a pop. Almost makes it worthwhile to quit your job and do coin roll hunting for a living.

THEY'RE STILL OUT THERE! Lately, I've been searching halves in single $500 boxes... nothing spectacular, a 40% here and there, some NIFC, impaired proofs, etc. Still cool but not earth shattering. Last weekend, I was on a visit away from home, and saw that there were some branches of my main bank nearby. Figured I'd call and ask for halves. One said they have $30, or 3 rolls, so I figured, "Why not?" I head in, 3 CWR. Open them in the car, the first two were all circ clad, or, what I'd expected. The third, though... I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. AN UNCIRCULATED ROLL OF 1963-D Franklins! I've been doing this for 13 years and have never found a single Benjamin. This was a blessing, since silver is so high - I sold some right away, and then had the funds to make a purchase for another collecting endeavor of mine. It all works out!

Wow,congrats on the BU roll! Following up on last week's find, I did check out the same bank where I got my latest silver haul on Wednesday, and did find another 1964-D along with a 1965 and a 1969-D from $9.50 in loose coins. $100 in MWR from another bank only netted three NIFC's from 2018 and 2019. Still, there is definitely stuff still out there, even if it isn't as easy to find!
