I had a similar result recently from a bank that had a large plastic bag of halfs; not as good as uncommoncents results but still 88 40% and 2 90% out of $280! I was VERY happy!

The silver streak continues......I went to the bank today, feeling lucky. I asked for half dollars. One teller looks up and says "I have $250 worth that someone dropped off." Suspectin a dump, I asked if I could see the rolls. They looked old, but I thought, no chance. I opened the end on one and saw a '64 Kennedy.
I immediately checked my wallet and had only $200. So I bought that many, and left the remaining $50 in the car. When I opened the roll in the car there was a mix of silver clad, silver Kennedy and Franklins. Needless to say I got another $50 from the ATM and bought the rest.
I haven't checked the results yet, but what if I got $250 in silver? What is in those roles? I will post my results later tonight!

I checked all the rolls I mentioned in my post yesterday. Here are the results: 40 1969 BU Halves 41 Walking Liberty halves 65 Franklin halves 357 1964 Kennedy halvesThe entire $250 dollars was silver! This is the largest amount of silver I have ever found. The BU 69's were a great find. The oldest half was a 1917 WLH. The only group I have sorted so far are the Franklins. Nothing great, but still found three I didn't have in my book. Needless to say I am shocked by this amount of silver. The best part was the teller was excited to get rid of the coins. I guess you would call that a "win/win"!

You found 503 Silver coins in $250.00 worth of halves ........ And even got $1.50 extra to boot !.... You know......I haven't checked all of the threads, but this has got to be the most AMAZING INCREDIBLE Silver score in the history of silver hunting rolls, bags, or boxes ! My mouth is ajar and I'm just stunned and shocked at your luck here....... .............. I don't even really know what to say other than ........ ......................... CONGRATULATIONS ! .............. ................... ......... ...........

The $1.50 is just the icing on the cake! I am not sure how this happened. I can't imagine how someone could turn in that much silver and not realize its value. Also, you would think a teller would check the rolls. To think I almost left $50 with her!
I need to check my totals, but this find brings my silver total (including silver clad) north of $600. WOW!

What would a full set of JFK halves be worth if the coins are in typical Kennedy circulated condition? I have everything except 2006D, and the ever elusive 1970 and 1987

I think that because of the lack of respect for modern coins, the value for a circulated set is probably not much more than total face value of the clad coins plus the melt value of the silver coins.

Man! I thought my 274 in 15 rolls was good. I don't think that total will be topped. CONGRADULATIONS........

Sheesh... I feel like it's not worth trying this in Boston, I just doubt the banks have 'old' currency around like this...but I suppose if I don't try, I already know the result...

Anyone come up on a trend of rural versus urban/suburban banks? I would suspect rural may offer more due to more old timers cashing old rolls in and fewer collectors to remove them. That may be what happened in my area.
