Coins must remain in the sealed US Mint shipping boxes, and the entire unopened package must be sent to NGC for certification. NGC must open these boxes in order for the coins to qualify for the MARCH OF DIMES SET pedigree.Note: If NGC receives the package unsealed, only the two Roosevelt dimes will be eligible for the MARCH OF DIMES SET pedigree and/or the Early Releases and First Releases designations

That is money I would rather invest elsewhere.

My set is more than halfway here, but history tells me it will actually travel past me and double back.

The 1st strike labels are completely useless in my opinion

I agree! As a matter of fact, the slabbers don't have any idea which coins are 'first strikes'; definitely NOT the coins normally sold the first day by the US Mint.

The first coins struck normally go on the bottom of the stack, and coins made after are loaded on top. When the coins are sold, the coins on the top of the pile are issued first, and the 'first strike' coins are not sold until they are the final pre-minted coins left.

I don't care when a coin is made. I will one day buy my 1909-S VDB and won't care if it was minted in January or July.

In hand.

UPS actually delivered, not the USPS.

For $4.95 I am impressed with the shipping service, though the US Mint may not have the same profit motive as what I am expecting and that could be the explanation.

So to sum up shipping for anyone interested.

My order number was one of the early ones, 3192XXX.

Ordered on 5.5.15

Scanned at 1pm. Ordered ASAP at noon.

Left origin in Tennessee at 11:30pm that night.

Arrived at my door in Ohio 5.7.15 at 10am.

I suspect lots of us will be getting coins today.

My sets finally shipped!

I bought some other goodies with my sets and thought I'd have to wait awhile but no, no, no, they'll be in hand very soon.

Really good experience from the Mint it seems.

I got my order completed at 12:21 on Monday afternoon. Order number 0320xxxx. It was shipped on Wednesday regular ground. Expected delivery is tomorrow, Friday.

If this all holds true it will be the fastest service I've ever had from the mint and their supplier.

I would probably get mine today if I lived further west. I am between two sort facilities, but closer to the one east of me, which is why I said it will go past me and double-back. I am okay with getting it tomorrow though.

Yes, and I agree with your belief but the facts outweigh your beliefs...the FS and ER labeled coins do sell for more than those without that designation.

Personal collection...no need to have them graded and too expensive to have just one graded.

Eventually up for sale...there is a decent price difference between top graded coins and raw and even more for FS and ER slabbed coins...

You don't have to believe in the label just the facts.

Obviously the designation did not exist 100 years ago

BUT...if you are smart, you will buy that s-vdb surrounded by a plastic slab and graded by a reputable company

What he said is accurate regardless of whether or not the FS and ER labeled coins sell for more. People are simply paying money for something that is really of no value. If the 3rd party graders were actually determining which coins are well struck versus poorly struck, there would be real value. However, they are not. It's just an easy way for them to make money. I won't pay more for a FS or ER labeled coin, but I will buy them if the price is right.

Exactly! Because they are looking at the coin to determine it's genuine and backing it up with a guarantee. The coin will definitely be worth more than another same looking coin that's not slabbed.

You should, they didn't strike any 09SVDB's until Julyand they stopped in early August. If you have one made in January.......
