That is certainly a show stopper. Only one Eisenhower dollar set could ever have it.

Eisenhower Dollars, I may start looking for those. I found this in one of the junk silver boxes while searching for Franklins. I paid $20 for it, then bought the Guide Book of Peace dollars by Roger Burdette. I think they are beautiful coins, maybe a slabbed collection?

Nice! I remember how happy I was when I completed my 38-64 jefferson set (no major accomplishment) and later my 1909-74 lincoln set, which is still the crown jewel of my collection.

Ahh, Peace dollars are a great set to go for if you like and can afford large silver because there are only a few keys and they are still obtainable without breaking the bank. (*depending on condition) If you plan on a slabbed ms set though it may get pricey

Yeah, I was thinking MS63/64, still might top $8000 by the time it is done. Would take a while, but would be a significant collection, I feel.

If you go for it I suggest getting the keys first if you can afford them. They tend to jump in price faster than the common dates

I have heard that strategy before, makes sense. It will be a couple year project at least. What are thoughts on buying keys in a lesser grade than the rest of the set?

I disagree. This coin is an error, is not necessary, and does belong in a regular production set of Ikes.

Agreed. I do not collect any of the errors, just the major varieties.

But if this one landed in my lap I would not throw it back.
