I'd definitely return that. Heck, I'm returning mine due to the horrible die polishing alone.

I called the Mint to request a replacement because the plastic capsule on my coin was cracked. Since the product is on backorder all they can do for you is a refund.

Victory... with all the graded sets on ebay - I suspect you can find the OGP for a low price - since there isn't a lot of flair added to this particular coin.

I'm a newbie myself and all have been welcoming when I asked an opinion. I decided to return mine because after mulling it over, decided if I was going to pay a pretty premium over spot, I should expect a coin with better QC. Sent it back yesterday and changed my order from 1 to 2 which has been on backorder with the hopes at least one comes back better quality that the first. Which is a shame because I do like the coin despite many not having a favorable opinion on it.

Centsie if mine came like that I would have returned it too, too expensive, too beautiful of a coin to have a mark on it like that straight from the mint. And honestly they should have never sent that out.

Thanks to everyone for the welcomes and good advice. Back to the mint will be the outcome.

Centsei, call them and tell them that the coin arrived damage with gunk on it. If you say that it's damaged, they'll email you a call tag (to pay for shipping). If you return a coin just because you changed your mind, you have to pay shipping.

Looks like if you want one now from the mint, the price just went up $50 per coin to $1540. Expected in-stock date is now Sept 14th.

Of course 3 days after I sent off my Eisenhower coins for grading, the status on the Liberty coins went from backorder to processing.

Update 09/01 @ 5:30PM CST: Got a tracking number.

Maybe he can get his ID updated. I am sure that guy has updated the cardboard cutout.
