As I mentioned in a post in the U.S. Commems area, Truman's face looks a little "mushy" to me in RP. But that could just be the photo. We'll see when it's in hand tomorrow.

You know I brought up the relation to the 95w ASE but I think this has direct correlation to the Cherios dollar. If you think about it they might be on par future value wise... The Cherios is needed by both complete sac as well as modern pattern collectors The truman RP will be needed by both complete pres as well as RP only collectors Only difference aside from the differance of how popular those 4 collector markets are is 17,000 for truman & 5,000 for Cherios sac but that is negligible at best imho ...Is my logic sound?

Well in my opinion the difference of 12,000 mintage may make a little difference plus the legendary tale of how the coin was available in the Cheerios boxes makes it more... how do I say... fairytale-ish that adds a certain appeal IMO. I definitely think these RP coins will be winners but reaching the value of the Cheerios dollars may be a little bit of a stretch. Time will tell though and I can't wait to see how quickly the next C&C sets sell out, especially if they don't change the HH limit. No matter what, though, if I am able to get more than one I will be holding an extra for jbuck just in case ;) although I am sure he will get it no problem.

The Cheerios dollars are not a good comparison because so few have actually been found. Yes the mintage is said to be around 5,000, but far fewer have actually been found. A better comparison would be the 2000-P Goodacre Presentation dollars. There are 5,000 of them and they are all in collectors' hands. They go for around $500 each. I'm guessing these Presidential RP's will settle out to be in the $150 to $200 range in a couple of years. As for the 1995-W Proof ASE, I was speaking with a dealer at a local coin show and expressed my amazement that the go for so much. He pointed out that it's the key to the series and the series is popular. He then went on to say that he thinks the main reason the prices are so high is that people are putting them in precious metals IRA's. Only certain coins qualify (like .999 silver bullion). So, a part of what's happening is that "investors" are eating up a good bit of the supply. How this will pan out in the long run I don't know. However, I wouldn't bet that the 1995-W Proof ASE will always keep going up. The bottom line with comparing these RP's to the Cheerios dollars and 1995-W Proof ASE's is that there are other factors more at work than the mintage figures.

Mintage of the MS Pres $1 ranges from 163 MILLION to a more reasonable 4 million (each Mint)
Mintage of the recent PF Pres $1 is around 2-3 MILLION
Mintage of the RP is 17 THOUSAND...
When I saw that it was a complete and total no brainer
..and this TOTALLY discounting the silver medal which is definitely a decent collectible
No thought involved in purchasing this SET

After all of this, I have the feeling that the next C&C set sell out will be less than 10 minutes if they continue with the 17K - 5 HHL and the website doesn't crash. Might be a little harder to get a set in the future.

My tracking is live and says it is due next Friday. Using my previous orders expected and actual dates as a guide, I determine that I will have mine on Tuesday.
