Quote: I believe the pcgs FS labels will be more rare and possibly more desirable in the long run. But why? It's just a piece of paper from a 3rd party saying it was given to them for grading within 30 days of the issue. All of the coins were struck prior to issue, so there is absolutely no way to say which one was struck first. The last coin to be struck could actually get a First Strike designation. Don't get me wrong. I'm not disagreeing with your point that they may actually sell for more. It just shows me that people are not thinking. They're collecting the 3rd party holder and not the coin.

I have said many times that it does not matter what YOU think when selling a product...it only matters what the buyer thinks and if they will pay more for a certain label then, whether it makes sense TO YOU or not, that label is the way to go.
Belief vs. fact....quite often not the same

Having a bit of morning confusion with these from the same post: Quote:
I have to disagree about the price of PF69. I believe the price for PF69 will goes toward $300 and will settle below that, but not less than $250/set. Three PF69's sold yesterday for $159 with free shipping. I think they will soon be available for less... Quote: Optimism with CAUTION: Once those coins in OPG are being screened and sent to NGC and the over all result of average grade for this set is revealed ==> PRICE WILL MOVE LOWER. .... That is what always happens and I totally agree...but it does conflict with the statement above ...and I also agree with NGC as a grading choice...

Are you the only person the remind me button works for fox? With these and the Roosevelts I've noticed around 730am est. Is when the mint puts up these mini post release offerings. Good to know they're predictable for people who miss the initial rele ASE

That dumb "remind me" button has NEVER worked for me... I just have a morning ritual and go through all my bookmarked sites ...on another note: I sent an email to NGC asking if we REALLY have to send in the OGP if we want the medal graded... ...the box is open ...the capsules come out easily ...the medal is not available in any other set Ummmm why?

No answer yet? I wonder what they'll say.
Fox, can you elaborate on your ngc choice above. Is it primarily based on the $18 label fee? Or better chance of higher grades too? I feel over the next week I'll go back and forth before I make a decision. Plus for me it's only a county away with pcgs and a whole country away with ngc.

Well, I am a bit opinionated on the PCGS/NGC thing and usually get into trouble when I elaborate but you asked PCGS slabs usually do sell at a premium to NGC slabs but at what cost? When I examine 70's (or 69's) from both companies I can see ZERO difference between them...yes, I am not a professional grader and I do NOT own an electron microscope...but "perfect" to me is what I get back from NGC AND PCGS One example of PCGS grading issues is with the recent MOD sets...blogs were reporting many submitters getting only one RP70 out of 10 submissions. I sent my 10 sets to NGC and got 6 RP70's back....were they "less perfect"? Nope, look perfect to me...and yes that one RP70 does sell for a bit more than the NGC RP70 but I got six of them vs. one... I have since bought quite a few PCGS MOD RP69's on the open market at VERY reasonable prices (usually the same as NGC for the 69's ) ...and yes the $18 for FS is just stupid...it takes zero effort, doesn't change the grading process, and is someone just switching the printing program to "FS Label" from the regular one...(and I agree it is meaningless which is different from worthless). I can deal with 5 bucks more since I do get a unique Presidential label along with my ER designation. I will say that I have sent most of my 5 ounce silver pucks to PCGS just because I like their more condensed slab and they look cool in that slab...the NGC slab is waaaay too big and waaay too much white I get my grades back much quicker from NGC except I do hate getting my coins back vis Registered Mail...it takes FOREVER. Both companies are stellar grading companies so it's not like you are choosing between Joe's Grading and PCGS...both are excellent. Go with what you like...and whichever one you will get the better results with... ...and don't get me going on the validity of their publiched POP's.

Quote: No answer yet? I wonder what they'll say. With the w/e I doubt if I will get a quick answer so I will call tomorrow. Still am up in the air as to what to do with the medal...grade/not grade..no cue what the market will be..but....a 70 medal and 70 RP set WOULD be cool...

Valid points fox. And more food for thought with the ratio differance you received for sure. You could have just been lucky but still, it's not like 2-3 against 1 it was 6 against 1 lending a modicum of validity to your theory even with basing it solely on your 1 sub vs word of mouth pcgs reports. Ya I'm not sure about the medals. Who really cares about those anyway so I can sub those later 8f I decide to but yes a 70 set would be nice to have. I was just reviewing my medals and 3 of them have triple DDO mottos but I'm thinking they might just be localized shutter strikes. Probably gonna post them in variety to get opinions. The other 2 have no signs of doubling/chatter

Does anyone have a Truman pamphlet that they don't want? One of my sets was missing it. I called the mint and they said don't do replacement packaging anymore. They said that the MIGHT be able to send me the pamphlet IF they have any. I doubt that will happen, so if anyone isn't planning on keeping the OGP, I'd certainly appreciate the pamphlet.

An article a few days ago. Read mint mouthpiece Adam stumps comments and read between the lines. He's vaugly saying They may up the mintage or they may reduce hh limit basically they're doing something but don't know what yet... https://www.coinworld.com/news/ike-...-at-ana.html"The product is currently limited to an issue of 17,000 sets, Stump said. Stump said the Eisenhower set will have a household ordering limit, but the limit had not yet been determined as of July 8." ...key words are... currently & not yet determined

even if they bump it to 25k, like the kennedy set is planned, they will still be rare and in demand, IMO. I could see a HH limit of 3, mintage of 25k, and kennedy mintage of 50k. AND...that would make the Truman the key set, and I have 3 left after selling 2 to pay for the five I purchased.
