Quote:Anyway, it will be interesting to see how keys in the Coin and Chronicles sets and the Presidential dollar series develop from these sets. AGREED! Quote:For instance, a Coin and Chronicles collector shouldn't have a problem getting the Marshall, Franklin, and both Roosevelt sets, but the Lincoln one is a bit of a hurdle at around $75-$90 on ebay. And that one had a product limit of 50,000 sets and sold out in about a day. Thank you for bringing this up. I am missing the 2005 John Marshall set (a few years before I got into serious coin collecting). I missed the 2009 Lincoln C&C set (not sure why) so I ended up driving 20 miles and paid $100 for it. I got the TR C&C set from the Mint and I need to get FDR C&C set to catch up. Btw, you forgot the 2006 Franklin C&C set. Quote: It will be interesting to see the market six years from now on the 17,000 each Truman and Eisenhower sets. Let us wait and see how things will pan out at the end of the Presidential $1 coin series. The Mint will continue to 'innovate' and come up with new products. My question is how well the $1 Presidential series will continue/be sustain down the road? Will interests dwindle like the State Quarter series? Welcome to Modern Coins Collecting world!

It can dwindle all it wants. A mintage of 17,000 is still extremely low, even for an unpopular series. I think these sets will always go up.

The price for the other series of Coin and Chronicles sets have risen considerably on ebay in the last few weeks. I needed the Lincoln and the Teddy Roosevelt ones. I bought the Lincoln one today but it was $45 higher than the last time I looked. Still need Theodore. I had to buy the Truman on ebay due to a conference call. It was sold out by the time I got off the phone but I won't make that mistake on August 11th. I made a note on my calendar on my desk.

Any of these that stay at 17k are going to only increase in value. They cross into multiple collecting genres/sets. Not only will pres dollar guys want them in the future but so will RP set guys, low mintage type set guys, key guys, c&c guys, golden dollar guys and so on. So anyone who thinks they'll go down once the pres dollar set is done is being short sighted... Unless the mint pulls some shady crapaki by december these are going up up up. How high they will be in 3, 5 & 10+ yrs is the only question with truman & ike. Kennedy will be a wild card. Highly popular but still won't be at truman/ike levels
And, just a hunch, but with the mint upping the kennedy I believe they may have also shown their hand on how they are reacting to the truman craze... It's a good indicator that they WILL NOT be releasing a December rp set IMHO

#OldSkool..... I had NO idea they would ALL be sold by the time I got off the phone But it's all good. I picked up 2 on ebay before they got outrageously expensive. Pricey but much less than they are selling for recently.

Five years from now I think the price paid will be irrelevant. I'm considering keeping the Ike sets and not selling any.

Truman Eisenhower Johnson

How would those factors play into mintage figures? The first 2 are set at 17k, kennedy has been upped to 50k and most likely Johnson will go to at least 25k. Regan is a wild card at probably 25k, 50k or maybe even higher

FYI: The mint updated the product description for the Eisenhower C&C. I believe that this squashes any ideas that the RPs will be released as a set later in the year as it even took out the "minted in Philadelphia" wording that was included with the Truman description:
"The 2015 Coin and Chronicles Set - Dwight D. Eisenhower features a Presidential $1 Reverse Proof Coin (only found in this set!) and an Eisenhower Presidential Silver medal"

Quote: How would those factors play into mintage figures? I believe he is referring to the actual final sales numbers. The Truman, maxed at 17,000 is actually at 16827 and depending on the yearly audit might change that a bit... The Ike will have approx the same numbers and MIGHT be a few coins plus/minus from that 16827...not enough to even consider

Quote: Dwight D. Eisenhower features a Presidential $1 Reverse Proof Coin (only found in this set!) Finally We can rest easy now knowing truman and ike are the big boys Ike day will be beyond crazy now. Everyone will get as many friends and family on board buying 2 as their wallets can withstand. Even with the reduced hh l8mit this will go VERY fast maybe even beating truman if the site can handle it. It's gonna be epic!
