For those of you that do the PCGS registry set, is there a reason why the "weight" of the same coin can vary from set to set.

For example, 1880H 5 cent has 2 different weights, a 2.0, 3.0 and 5.00, from the following sets.

Canadian Victoria Five Cents with Varieties, Circulation Strikes (1858-1901)

Canadian Coins Complete Basic Set, Circulation Strikes (1858-1952)

Canadian Silver Five Cents with Varieties, Circulation Strikes (1858-1921)

I am doing a poor man's version of this for personal use, but not sure of these numbers.

Points are based on the coins rarity within the set. With 10 being the rarest and
1 being the most common. Additional information can be obtained by going to

I believe you were meaning 3 different weight's not 2?

Perhaps upon registering the set a typo occurred for the given coin.

Yes, meant 3, started with 2, but then looked at a 3rd set. It seems odd that they would not use 1 measure that applies across all sets. It is not like the sets add to 100 or anything, they are all over the board in terms of registry sets.
