Hey there, is this just missing clad layer or wrong planchet? Any ideas how I can get rid of green stuff? Thanks Jean

Best way is to spend it. Looks like a corroded normal quarter.

funny coop, it is corroded, yes, but it is also brown like a pennie...im just wanting to learn what caused the brown color and I would also like to clean off the corroding as well because I think it is cool....there are alot more on ebay like these (without the corroding) that are for sale 40-300 dollars...

When a toned/corroded coin goes back into circulation, the highest points of the design show silver when they are worn off on those areas. On a missing clad coin this does not happen as there is no silver color. Just copper. Just loot at the rims on your coin. They are silver colored.

I have pulled clad coins from fresh water lakes while metal detecting that have this brown color. As a side note some will have truly attractive colorful toning.
