Reading over the information in this thread I am getting myself confused. I had reported that I thought there was a 77 mm dia version minted but seeing your chart from the Royal Canadian Mint and converting the inch values to mm it appears it was a (2.125 inch) 54 mm dia version made in Gold, Silver and Tombac.
Have I made an error in my conversion or was the previous information I had incorrect? Do you have any other information that would confirm the sizes minted?
Many more of the Silver (125) and Tombac (649) minted in this size so maybe there is a chance to find one.
Just a curiosity question.

Came across this the other day and thought it deserved a post in this this posting.

1939-Royal-Visit-Medallion

Inscription says;
"This medal struck at Windsor Ont. by Ford Motor Company of Canada Copper alloy used in the 1937 Ford V-8

Saw another post regarding a token for the ford motor company here:

This post prompted me to post this.

Weight 17.6 gms
Diameter 33.1 mm

Unfortunately someone drilled a hole in this one.

An interesting novelty coin.
Anyone know anything more about it
Anyone have any others with this Obverse showing but different reverse?

I have seen that one in pictures only. Nice addition. Looks like a
die crack going through the I in VI from Rim to Queens forehead.

@pennybox, I must have at least 5 different versions of the 1937 visit medal. Dozens of companies just used the royal visit to issue what amounts to an advertising medal with a patriotic spin. In most cases there is no other significance or reason.

Hey all, new member here, I just stumbled upon this forum while looking for some info on this medal of my grandfather's that I inherited. It's been in my storage for years. I know that it's from the royal visit but short of that I'm not sure of what version it is or anything. I can't seem to find any other examples that have a ribbon like this. The ribbon is suspended by a metal bar of the same type of metal with an exposed metal front. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

It looks like the Percy Metcalfe PM initials on the obverse. I would bet it is a bronze medal altered with added ring soldered on and ribbon attached. What is the size? Diameter?

Looks to me like the Small, 26 mm Bust Percy Metcalfe (PM)
Obverse small bronze medal given to school children with a
soldered/welded ring. The medal is in great shape but I see
discolouration close to the ring on top so that is why I
think it is an altered medal. The original luster is there
unless it has been cleaned. They made a pile of these (one
for every school child in Canada 2.533 million) so for
value, not a lot, $4-5.

Thanks very much for the information, very much appreciated! :) Not overly worried about the value, the sentimental value is worth more and it's a neat little historical piece to hang onto.
