Hello all,

Ive got this small coin which I can't identify myself. It looks like late roman? Because of the small cross. But it also can be umayyad or something else.

Does anyone recognize this piece?

If you can clean it up a bit we might be able to tell. I see what may be a monogram but I can make it out.

no clue here, what size vince? I'm thinking it's not roman, but I can't exactly say why I think that....

cleaning may help indeed.

Hmmm, this looks like it will be a tough one to pin down. My first thought was central Asia...like one of the more abstract Jouan-Jouan's. I hope Noob stops by for a visit and offers his opinion...

Diameter is 13 mm and thickness is 2 mm.
Maybe merovingian? Ive put it into distilled water. Maybe it gets better.

I don't think it's Merovingian...I could be mistaken, but I believe they minted primarily (perhaps exclusively?) in silver and gold. Your coin looks bronze, Vince...is this correct?

I am at a loss on this one as well. I am not sure what it is? Maybe a short soak and some toothbrush work might reveal more. I am not even sure of the orientation at this point. I am not sure if that is some type of tamgha on the first photos right field. Could be so many possibilities.
